So, as I mentioned on another thread, my wife and I got our car totalled on vacation. There's some rather significant peripheral costs and pain and suffering we are hoping to get addressed.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for an attorney who can assist us as we try and get restitution? The accident was our near Beaufort and we live in Asheville. Not sure if any of that matters - I'm new to this universe.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I have a neighbor who is a personal injury attorney. According to his website he specializes in suing people over dog bites and gunshot wounds. He is one of the dumbest people I have ever met. Do you actually need a personal injury "specialist"? Wouldn't a good "generalist" be just as good, if not better?
Not an attorney, so sorry I can't help any more than that.
So, IANAL nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but it has always been suggested to me to find some who is familiar with the jurisdiction where the event occurred, i.e. New Bern, Jacksonville, Greenville, etc. preferable to Asheville.
Good guy based in Durham but has represented clients down east: https://philipmullinslaw.com/.

I hope you and your wife get well soon. I don't have a recommendation for a lawyer but I would recommend keeping some type of journal. Even if there is a police report you may want to write down everything you and your wife recall.
Jay Kerr is a good dude, based in Asheville. Jaykerrlaw.com.
If your case ends up needing to be filed you’ll probably want someone closer to Beaufort, but Jay can negotiate your case and hopefully resolve it.
yeah, humongous percentage are settled ahead of time. For personal injury lawyers, it's a pretty clear business: try to settle without a trial to minimize expenses...but litigate often enough to maintain credibility.
