Without a super-champion in the mix, Monday's show provided many opportunities. When the correct response was revealed for many of the triple stumpers, my reaction was "of course". Yet, I only managed to get one.

Unlike me, I suspect that rsvman picked up both triple stumpers in the "Outbreaks" category.

Nice. That one was really hard, a bit past my knowledge and way past my ability to figure it out in 30 seconds. From December 7:

U.S. PRESIDENTS: He was sworn in twice as president within 2 years, first by his father & then later by a former U.S. President

It's Calvin Coolidge. I guessed correctly that William Howard Taft was the "former U.S. President" but I couldn't think of any VP that ascended to the Presidency when Taft was Chief Justice. I knew that LBJ was sworn in twice, in 1963 and 1965, so I just went with that.

If it helps you catch up, I'll say that that $7000 Daily Double is the easiest fake $7000 you'll ever make.

The $1200 clue about plays was so clever that it's worth singling out below. Maybe too clever for the contestants to solve in time, but all of them nodded in recognition when Ken provided the correct response.

Allison Janney, Ouisa in this play, was in "The Hours" with Meryl Streep, who was in "The River Wild" with Kevin Bacon

What is "Six Degrees of Separation"? I spent a second wondering about Ouiser in "Steel Magnolias", also a play, before following the flow of the clue and figuring it out without Allison Janney or Ouisa. As Ken confirmed my guess, I thought back and remembered that Stockard Channing played a character named Ouisa in the movie version.

Gotta say, while it wasn't a stumper, I really hesitated with my (correct) response to the $400 clue for Everyday Royalty and Nobility.

There's a whole category about Whodunit mystery movies that practically repeated facts I learned from an AVClub article earlier today. The clues would have been taped months ago, and the article came out before the episode did. Go figure.
