    Duke Softball 2023

Duke Softball kicks off their Fall schedule with a game against UNC tonight at 6:00 pm ET in Chapel Hill. The Fall schedule features eight exhibitions and ends with the Fall World Series in late October. None of the Fall games are broadcast or covered by livestats.

"We are excited to hit the ground running with Team 6 this fall," said head coach Marissa Young. "We have put together another challenging fall schedule to expose our freshman to what is expected in the spring, to make another strong postseason run. Every year our program has elevated their success to take the next step in the NCAA tournament and I feel it starts with setting the tone in the fall. I am excited to take the field with a new staff, impactful newcomers, and a very strong roster of hungry returners."

Four Tabbed to D1Softball’s Top-150 Player Rankings

DURHAM – Following a historic 2022 campaign, four Duke softball players have been tabbed to D1Softball's top-150 player rankings.

Leading the way for Duke was graduate student Jameson Kavel, who checked in at No. 43. Fellow All-American Peyton St. George and Kristina Foreman were right behind her, ranking No. 54 and No. 57, respectively. Sophomore Jala Wright rounded out the lineup with her first such honor, by being placed at No. 125 in the nation.

Sporked and thanks for the update. Duke Softball has been such an amazing program to watch rise from literally nothing to elite heights. It's not easy to find a parallel.

The team won 5-2 over UNC this past weekend. Always a nice way to start a new year.

Its only preseason but Duke Softball travels to Tennessee today for an afternoon game against the Volunteers who were ranked #20 last season. Duke was #12. So far Duke has won both fall games handily. No live stats or live stream. https://twitter.com/DukeSOFTBALL/sta...25121933463553

Duke softball announced their schedule this past week for the regular season. They uh, are not going to get an easy start, with their opening tournament being in Irvine CA, with the season beginning with a double header against Washington and....

    Oklahoma.

Hopefully they don't get run ruled? Yikes.
<devildeac> anyone playing drinking games by now?
    7:49:36<Wander> drink every qb run?
7:49:38<loran16> umm, drink every time asack rushes?
7:49:38<wolfybeard> @devildeac: drink when Asack runs a keeper
7:49:39 PM<CB&B> any time zack runs, drink

After the strong finish I was hoping for at least top 15 but am probably forgetting some key personnel losses.

Losing PSG could only have dropped us a few notches. Twenty Two is a good start though. Shows we are respected, and gives plenty of room to climb.
We start with another top 25 team (Washington), and then THE #1 team in Oklahoma. (On the same day, no less.) So we'll see where we stand very early.

Both games are on the west coast (in Irvine California iirc) so we could start 0-2….and that won’t be a black mark really on the season. Certainly we are likely to drop the Oklahoma game.

But it’ll be a good way for the team to see how far they have to go early. It’ll be a very different team without PSG, but Wright was making some big steps forward in the postseason last year, so I’m still excited about it.

Also our first ten games also feature ranked opponents in Stanford Arkansas Alabama and UCF. 6 top 25 opponents most well within the top 20 in ten games is something

Duke Tabbed No. 16 in USA Today/NFCA Preseason Poll

    https://goduke.com/news/2023/1/31/so...ason-poll.aspx

DURHAM – Duke softball was ranked in the USA Today/NFCA top-25 preseason poll for the third consecutive year after earning the No. 16 spot the organization announced Tuesday.

With the announcement of Tuesday's release, the Blue Devils have been ranked in the top-25 in all four major preseason polls for just the second time in program history.

Head Coach Marissa Young returns 14-of-24 members from last year's team that posted a 44-11 record and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history. In addition, six new faces are set to take the field this season for the Blue Devils in five freshmen and one transfer sophomore.

Duke opens the 2023 season at the Mark Campbell Invitational, presented by Premier Girls Fastpitch, in Irvine, Calif., on Feb. 9-11. The Blue Devils are slated to face three opponents, all of which were ranked in USA Today/NFCA's preseason top-25, with games against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 14 Washington and No. 17 Stanford.

    Duke Preseason Rankings List
    Softball America: No. 13
    USA Today/NFCA: No. 16
    ESPN/USA Softball: No. 19
    D1 Softball: No. 22

Here's a preview article as Duke plays in the Mark Campbell Invitational for the first time.
It's a long and fun read.

For National Newcomer Duke, Winning Is A Joyride
Duke softball played its first season in 2018, and by 2023, has the framework to become a year-in and year-out title contender.

I came across that site because from what I can tell it's the only place to watch the games, and I think it requires joining the site and $.
I don't see any links at all to radio or live stats on GoDuke.

Here's the link to the tournament itself.
