They showed a stat yesterday that UVA hits Home Runs against Right Handed Pitchers and has little to no power vs left handed pitchers. Well Pollard took out the lefty and put in a righty and got BURNED.

7-3 UVa top 5. Duke may surrender 10+ runs today. Their pitching has failed them.

8-3 now. Pretty clear Pollard made a big mistake here. You should not put a right handed pitcher in against UVA unless he's ace-level or you have no one else, or UVA will destroy the guy.

Why did they even make the switch in the first place?

So My guess is that Gelof - a right handed batter who is one of UVA's best batters - was coming up and Boucher as a righty pitcher should have a greater edge over Beasley against him. Boucher is also on average a better pitcher than Beasley.

But well Gelof got a single, and then the hit by pitch and suddenly Boucher was facing lefty batters again....and disaster.

Well a pickoff ends the damage. 8-3 Virginia halfway through.

This game is NOT over, but Duke will need to do damage fairly quickly. First thing is to knock out this starter.

Virginia starter is now just throwing fastballs after being like entirely breaking balls for the first four innings. Even he is trying to just get strikes and get this game over with quickly...Duke should be able to punish that....theoretically.

At 10-3 now, that's probably the best strategy. Hopefully Duke can get some momentum back in these later innings.

Well, fortunately for us, doesn't matter how much you lose by. Just counts as one loss and everything gets reset for the next one.

So again, in the first series we had against UVA, duke blew them out in game 1, got blown out in game 2, and then put together a game 3 victory 7-2. So let's just say we're following the same pattern.
