Duke wins 3-2 in a great come-from-behind, top 25, road game.
Tennessee put up a good fight right to the end. It feels like Duke is not quite coordinated yet.
Yet they are now 3-0 with 3 more games before conference play starts on Sep. 8.

Our Keeper, Ruthie Jones, had a tough night. Too passive on the first goal and way too aggressive on the 2nd. Going to need her to live up to her star billing if this team hopes to go far. Can’t have too many nights like tonight against quality opponents

Tennessee had a couple of good opportunites to score in the last few minutes including a 30-ft shot off the crossbar and an untouched ground ball right through the box. Either Ruthie is not in her groove yet or the defense has not jelled yet (or some of both). Then there was the UT goal that should have been ruled good in the first half. It could have easily been a tie or a loss.

The team definitely needs work but wow, what an exciting comeback to get a W! Credit to the squad for not giving up when they were down so late. Cooper is everywhere, she’s so much fun to watch.

Cooper has that magic of great soccer players. She is worth the price of admission.

Sophie Jones is also very fun to watch. She has spectacular instinct, touch and feel for the game. I see she's playing without the knee brace this year and seems to be more mobile and aggressive offensively.

I was trying to be restrained in my thoughts as even the best players have off nights. I have two high level keepers for children so I live the keeper world 24/7. Normally Ruthie is sensational. She was just off last night. It happens.

Cooper is a one in a million. Best player ever at Duke hands down. Speed, strength, touch, vision....she is a worth buying a scalped ticket for.

When it is all said and done, she may end up being the best female athlete to ever play for Duke regardless of sport

In other news, UNC just lost their preseason AA Maycee Bell for the season with a torn meniscus

It is at least possible, but she'll have to be amazing to be mentioned in the same breath as Alana Beard or Nancy Hogshead. But, I mean, who wouldn't hope for that to happen?

Duke wins 4-0 over Charlotte and are now 4-0 for the season. Goals today by Groff, Cooper, Pluck and Rader. Duke dominated with 22 shots versus 0 shots for Charlotte. Cooper left the game midway in the 2nd half with a cut to the face. Let's hope its nothing serious. Next up is #6 UCLA on Thursday at Koskinen.

Duke is back up to #2 this week. Let's hope Cooper is ready to go after her apparent face laceration in Sunday's game.
