Coop and Carina Make the Team

Congrats to Duke rising sophomore Michelle Cooper and incoming freshman Carina Legeyre who were selected for the United States under-20 women’s national soccer team that will compete at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Championship in Costa Rica last month.

They join Quinn (who competed for Canada in 2014) and Mollie Pathman (who won gold with the United States in 2012) as Duke players so honored.

Alas, they will miss all of preseason and likely at least the first four matches of the season.

    You go, ladies.

Sorry, failure to proofread. That should be next month, of course.

The final is scheduled for 8/27, so I wouldn’t expect to see Coop or Carina in a Duke uniform until at least the Carolina game on 9/8 (I’d love to see them at TCU on 9/4 since I will probably run up to Foat Wuth for that one, but I don’t expect to).

Yeah. It's hard to overstate what a difference she makes on the offensive end for us.
