ACC women’s soccer is the epitome of a power conference this year: five teams (FSU, UNC, UVA, Duke, and Clemson) in the top seven of the pre-season polls. Duke could be awfully good and have an unimpressive record.
The Duke men won at #24 High Point last night 2-0. Our final exhibition will be against NC State this weekend.

An important season for John Kerr and Duke men's soccer. Duke missed the NCAAT the last two seasons and hasn't made a deep run in a long time. Duke had three players on the ACC's all-freshman team last season, so they may be poised to make a big jump. But ACC soccer is brutally competitive. But this is a program that used to be nationally relevant pretty much every year and has fallen far from that standard since John Rennie retired. Time to reverse that trend.
Peter Stroud is one of those freshman and is likely one of the keys to the season. He has been named to the 12 member ACC preseason watch list.

All eyes are on Duke's new freshman forward, Michelle Cooper....she may just be the offensive sparkplug that takes Duke to new heights
The recruiting has definitely stepped up. They landed the #1 goalie in the country in Grant Farley (who happens to be Brooks Robinson's grandson). They have 11 sophomores from a class that was rated by at least one source as the #1 recruiting class in the US last year. 6 freshmen this year. This might be the most talent Duke has had in a long time. At least 3 big recruits committed for next year including Kenny Hot from Red Bulls, Kamren Acito from NYCFC and Wayne Frederick. Hot is a 5-star recruit and the highest ranked player not signing a professional contract. Kerr is assembling what could be the best collection of talent that has roamed Gothic Wonderland since the 1980s.
Men's team had a big road scrimmage win over #24 High Point the other night....before that they tied #25 Coastal Carolina
It's all about recruiting...I will tell you this...you won't find a more relatable coach than John Kerr
His pitch to both parents and players resonates. Just a "salt of the earth" person
He lost a couple of top flight players early to MLS...BUT...the foundation hasn't been this strong in seemingly forever.
Arkansas leads the Duke women 1-0 at the 20 minute mark. They are the much more physical team so far, picking up two yellow card in the process.

Good luck to both the women’s and men’s teams this year!
Duke ties it at one just before4 the half with a long shot that frankly the goalie muffed. Arkansas collected 4 yellow cards and had another play that injured the lower leg of a Duke player who had to be helped of the field.

Two penalty shots in the early second half have made it 3-1 Duke. Arkansas continues with the physical play but they have paid for it with the two goal box infractions.
Fortunately, Delaney Graham who left the field injured in the first half came back to start the second half. She is a rock-solid defender with good offensive skills.
Duke just taking it to the Razorbacks outshooting them 17-3 with less than 20 minutes to go
Way to go Ladies-well done
