Double bogey on 11, bogey on 12, bogey on 13 for Scheffler.
He’s now -2 and 2 shots back. He went from -6 to -2 in 3 holes. Hope he gets back in the mix here.
Zalatoris is in the clubhouse with the lead at -4 and the low round of the day - 67.
Unreal golfer.

Love Keegan. He’s from Vermont I think so not terribly far from New England regional area. He’s a huge Boston sports fan so this venue means a lot to him hosting the US Open.
Plus he wears Jordan golf shoes! He’s got some style!
I believe he played collegiately at St. John’s in the big apple. I think he’s won a major before (a PGA Championship).
Scottie finally gets a stroke back at 17. Now two back of the lead.
Odd question: it seemed like Fitzpatrick doesn’t take the flag stick out when he putts. Is there a reason for this?
Huge par safe for Scottie on 18.
Rahm blowing up on 18. Tough final hole for him.
Because he's smart?
Tests using a stimpmeter ramp to roll the ball show that at proper to slightly too much speed go in at a higher percentage, and putts that are much too fast go in at a higher percentage. The data also show that misses stay closer to the hole.
There is no reason, generally speaking, to take the pin out now that the rule has been changed to allow it. Most people take it out because of convention, I guess.
He may be a proponent of the Bryson DeChambeau method of putting which places heavy emphasis on the coefficient of restitution analysis.

FWIW, Fitzpatrick also chips cross handed (he’s a righty and chips with his right hand high).
It is certainly true that the ultra-thick flagsticks don't help the way the thin ones do.
Forgot to mention in my last comment that above and beyond the benefits seen when balls are rolled without human interference, it has also been demonstrated that most people start their golf ball on a better line when the pin is in versus when it is removed. Something about more focus, or a smaller target, or something.
In short, leave it in unless it is one of those really thick ones or if it is really windy, which can bend the stick over and make it harder to make putts when putting into the wind.
Where are the standings?!? I have Zalatoris and Fitzpatrick.
Stop the count right now!!!
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

Tl;dr Ph.D. led study says no benefit to leaving it in in 99% of circumstances. FWIW
"Amazing what a minute can do."
You are indeed in a great spot with both co-leaders plus Burns! As we saw the last two days there have been wild swings, so it's anyone's tournament at this point.
Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there!

Not as bad as I thought. Outside of Z, my guys went +8, +5, +5, +5, and +5. If things revert to average (i.e. they play well today), I might even have a chance.

Team Green fell like a rock (boulder) on Saturday.
Bob Green
A blustery 59° in Brookline, Mass right now. High of 63° in the forecast.
Quite the contrast from typical US Open weather, say for instance, the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst!
This appears more like The Open Championship type weather!
