Duke at the NCAA Track and Field Finals

Duke has 17 athletes competing in the T&F finals to be held June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. These are finals, only -- no prelims. I expect that in the shorter running events there will be only eight finalists -- four each from the East and West regionals held this weekend.

    Here is the GoDuke.com story.

Below is the list of Duke finalists, four men and 13 women. Notably, the women qualified in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Go Duke!

    NCAA Outdoor Championship Qualifiers

    Dana Baker – Javelin
    Halle Bieber – 4x100m relay
    Scott Campbell – Javelin
    Jenna Crean – 4x400m relay
    Emily Cole – 3000m steeplechase
    Nick Dahl – 1500m
    Erick Duffy – Pole Vault
    Abby Geiser – 4x100m relay
    Lauren Hoffman – 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay
    Luke Jackson – Javelin
    Carly King – 4x400m relay
Erin Marsh – Heptathlon, 4x400m relay
    Megan McGinnis – 4x400m relay
    Michaela Reinhart – 10,000m
    Kelcie Simmons – 4x100m relay
    Chyler Turner – 4x100m relay
    Isabel Wakefield - Heptathlon

Congrats to Duke Track and Field! Your comment about there not being prelims is incorrect. There are semi- finals in most running events with the exception of the longer distances. Men’s finals are on Friday, June 10 and women on Saturday,June11.

You are quite right -- I searched "NCAA Finals" and the schedule did not include the semis.

Watch for strong performances in the heptathlon, where Erin Marsh and Isabel Wakefield are seeded third and sixth, respectively, and the women's 400 hurdles, where Lauren Hoffman is seeded fourth.

Lauren Hoffman finished fourth in the 400 hurdles semi-finals and will compete in the final tomorrow. Erin Marsh has had a great day in the heptathlon today, finishing second overall after four events, with personal bests in the 100 hurdles and 200 meters. But the other Duke heptathlete, Isabel Wakefield, who was seeded sixth going in, did not compete--I have no idea why.

Erin Marsh was third in the heptathlon, missing second by a hair.
