Mikaylah Williams, the consensus #1 recruit in the coming year's class, has Duke among the final 5 schools she is considering. When was the last time that happened?
Still, Kara's gotta close. I feel like it's just a matter of time before one of these extremely top players wants to take on the challenge of bringing this storied program its first National Championship. I hope she's taking lessons from Scheyer.

DWBB is hiring!
Anyone want to be their new creative content producer or video coordinator?

Incoming freshman Emma Koabel is young enough to play in two youth cycles with Canada and started this U18 Americas Championship with 9 points in 20 minutes in a win over Mexico. Games are on YouTube.

Coach G is retiring from coaching.
https://www.wralsportsfan.com/kentuc...role/20329692/Kentucky women’s basketball assistant Gail Goestenkors has retired from on-court coaching but will remain on Kyra Elzy’s staff until her replacement is hired.
Goestenkors said in a release that she's looking forward to spending more time with family and friends and that coaching has been the gift of a lifetime.

Duke is reportedly in the mix for each of the top 3 players in next year's class - Mikaylah Williams (LA), Judea "Juju" Watkins (CA), and Jadyn Donovan (DC). All are 6' guards/wings. Any of the 3 would be a huge get for the program.
I'm hoping Kara doesn't need my recruiting advice, but it seems to me that the pitch would be simple. Be DWBB's Grant Hill. Be the iconic player that puts a storied program with multiple Final Fours over the top, brings that program its first National Championship. Be That Player.

#1 recruit Mikaylah Williams to LSU

Yeah, not surprising. Though we officially made her final 5 (and are only rumored to be linked to the other two of the top three), she was the one I figured we actually had the least chance with considering she's a Louisiana girl and Mulkey at LSU. I'd guess our best bet is Donovan (from Sidwell Friends in DC, vs. Watkins out in CA...though I'm just hoping we close on one of them).
Kim is 60, Geno 68, Tara 68. They all need to follow Muffet's lead and retire.

Though we are reportedly involved with several of the remaining top-20 2023 prospects available, and my opinion means nothing, the player I'd most like to get is Aalyah Del Rosario. She's a 6-6 center and obviously the frontcourt is our greatest need. By the time this class comes in, we'll only have 1, maybe 2, years left of Kennedy Brown.
Sounds like she would be a good fit, has only been in the states a few years after growing up in the Dominican Republic. I think she's only going to get better:
https://www.nj.com/highschoolsports/...ll-at-tca.htmlDel Rosario is an excellent student. Even though English is her second language, she has a 3.8 GPA, and has plans to study Business when she gets to college in a couple years.
In the end, I think/hope/believe we'll pick up at least 2 of these top-20 talents. Will of course be ecstatic with any of them.

Just wanted to make sure everyone saw this clip of Coach Lawson's speech to the team, posted by the Duke Women's Bball account this morning. It's fire

And all I want to say is that the fact that she represents Duke put a huge smile on my face.
Non-conference schedule announced. On paper the schedule is just ok. No more South Carolina, in its place is TAMU. Northwestern visits in the Big 10 challenge. Road game at FGCU won't be easy. IU-Penn is the exhibition game... real season starts on a Monday. Guaranteed to get at least one top 5 matchup in Portland.
