Duke Football: 2022 Blue & White Game (Sat. April 16 @ 6:00 pm)

We are now less than a week away from the Blue & White game (what Duke looks to be calling their Spring game going forward)! The first opportunity to see the team operate under Coach Elko and his staff!

Admission will be free, and they will be giving out some very cool looking G.R.I.N.D. shirts to the first 4k in attendance. It would be great to see a good turnout and show support for both the new staff and the players who have been working extremely hard all offseason. There are a bunch of great videos up on the football social media accounts from throughout the offseason workouts/practices/scrimmages (and some cool interviews with players as well if you want to get to know some of the guys), highly recommend checking them out if you have the time.

There is also a fan fest from 4:00-6:00 (rumor that Elko may make an appearance here I think). Perhaps more importantly, there will be an opportunity to meet and greet with players and coaches on the field after the game! I haven't been down there since we broke ground on the renovations! Check the links above for additional details, I've also the parts I thought were most important (read: coolest) below:

Pregame Fan Fest – From 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., fans can head down to the practice fields behind the main scoreboard to enjoy a football skills challenge, inflatable games, bounce house and obstacle course, face painters and music. Access to Fan Fest will be available by the stairs/elevator located by section 32. Interactive photo opportunities will be set up on the concourse behind section 20.

Pregame High Five Tunnel – Fans 13 and under are invited to hype up the players with a pregame High Five tunnel on the field. Those wishing to participate, please meet on field level below section 32 at 5:50 p.m. Access this area by using the stairs/elevator located on the concourse by section 32. Parents of participants are welcome to accompany the kids onto the field.

Fan Giveaway - The first 4,000 fans will receive a FREE Duke football G.R.I.N.D t-shirt when entering the stadium. Free 2022 Duke football posters, schedule magnets, schedule cards and key tags will also be available on the concourse.

Post-Game Meet and Greet - Following the game, fans are invited to come onto the field to meet and take photos with players and coaches.
*I tried and failed to attach the image with the details here, but couldn't get it in a size that would upload to the board that also looked good. If anyone else want to take a stab please have at it.

Edit: Oh, and this is very important. It will be a real game, not the situational scrimmage stuff we've seen for a while.

A little bit of good news for folks who can't make it out to the game, it will be broadcast live on ACCN (at 6:00). I assume it will be the radio team, and I'd guess the twin Daves will be doing a lot of talking about the state of the program, coaches, and players (would not expect it to be a super dry play by play of the scrimmage having seen those guys in action in the past).

Elko spoke with Chris Spatola on Sirius earlier today. Here's a short clip where he singles out the offensive line as a unit he's been particularly happy with so far (fantastic news if true).

    https://twitter.com/SXMCollege/statu...teSNvj85EqPRBg

He'll also be a guest on Packer & Durham tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. (ACCN) for those who are so inclined.

Thanks for the link. Spatola did ask "which unit are you happiest with thus far?" so it was a pretty leading question where Elko had to single out SOME group rather than saying they all stink -- I'm not that they do all stink and I'm sure he called them out for a valid reason, but I wouldn't read too much into it...yet. I'm sure the team has been working hard and looking forward to what they bring on the field next season.

No doubt, certainly there is some coach speak/promotion going on there but still encouraging.

The rosters have been released! I have not done a deep dive yet but at first glance I'll note that Luca Diamont is officially listed at WR for the game. Didn't feel like fiddling with attachments on mobile so you'll have to click through unfortunately.

Casual reminder that Elko will be on ACCN with Packer & Durham shortly.

Edit: One more note - Jordan Moore will be playing for both teams. Very interesting, makes me wonder if he is the leader in the QB room right now or if they just want his packages available to both squads.

Edit 2: Riley Leonard is also playing for both teams, so I guess they just want to be able to mix and match the QBs.

Riley Leonard is also listed for both teams. I don’t think there’s a #1 yet

From the Coach Elko interview on Packer and Durham, I think Bates Jones has the inside track on #1.

Not sure what changes were made, but the roster Tweet in my first post was deleted, here is the "updated" one.

(If a mod wants to edit the now-dead link in the earlier post and replace it with this one that would be great).

For those coming to the game that will be hungry enough to swing by our tailgate on Bassett Dr (temp home of Blue Devil Alley), feel free to bring your Duke vs Kentucky discourse.

Just pulled this off the grill for Saturday, will be buns and slaw to go with.

Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."

Ymmm...if you have not tasted CB&B's cooking you are missing out!

I can't wait for the game tomorrow, please come support the team if you are able (along with the Baseball and WLAX teams earlier in the day!). In addition to the opportunity to see the guys in action, we also get to meet and greet with the players and coaches. It should be a great time!

For those who cannot attend due to conflicts with the multiple religious holidays (or any other reason really) we will try to cheer extra loud for you in your absence and hope you have a lovely time with your friends, family, and/or religious community.

Oh, the creative team continues to knock it out of the park...cool video of practice from the QB's POV (literally)

I made the trip up from Atlanta to see the spring game and support the revival of Duke football. Also secondly, and less importantly, to help celebrate my son’s birthday. Gotta keep my priorities straight.

Looking forward to getting my free “Grind” T-shirt. That will financially offset about one gallon of gas for my trip.

If anyone shows up tomorrow and is wondering which tent is ours and nobody is around, my grill is a giveaway that you've found the right spot.
Being an artist, I'm excited to go to Duke Gardens while it's in bloom to load up my camera for some future paintings. That means I might not be there, and others might be at the baseball /WLAX games.
But we'll all be back to eat pre-game!

Seeing the kids and their parents lining up for the pregame tunnel was (is) a sight to see!
