That ranking was sooo wasted on Taylor.

This s#&% is too funny! I hope y’all don’t take it too far and end up getting into the weeds, though.

These might just get posted in draft order. Just as I posted introductory press conferences for Paolo Banchero and Mark Williams earlier in this thread, I found one for the Hawks and AJ Griffin. Bally Sports South posted this video Monday:

The other player is Tyrese Martin of Connecticut, and I mention him because he was traded on draft night from Golden State to Atlanta. Presumably the trade would have to clear the league office for Martin to be introduced as an ATL player. This may bode well for Wendell Moore Jr and many other draft picks who were similarly traded. Maybe this year they'll get to work with their new teams sooner, and start Summer League on time.

Spoke too soon. Looks like the Minnesota Timberwolves livestreamed their introductory press conference Tuesday. Walker Kessler, Wendell Moore Jr, and Josh Minott were all traded to Minnesota on draft night.

I know that Kessler already has two strikes against him for picking Roy Williams as his first coach and Bruce Pearl as his second, but he's a mildly entertaining speaker. Around the 6-minute mark he humorously describes his former teammate Jabari Smith Jr as a "pretty decent big" who "likes avoiding contact a little bit".

Did it come up that Josh Hairston is Wendell’s agent?

Weird bit of trivia: after the Rudy Gobert trade earlier this week, in which Minnesota sent Walker Kessler to Utah, each of the 5 Duke players in the 2022 NBA Draft became their team's top draft pick.

    Paolo Banchero, #1 to Orlando
Mark Williams, #15 to Charlotte (they traded away #13)
    AJ Griffin, #16 to Atlanta
Wendell Moore Jr, #26 to Minnesota (they traded away #19, and then #22 Kessler post-draft)
Trevor Keels, #42 to New York (they traded away #11)

I did not know that Josh Hairston and Mike Miller were part of the same agency, LIFT Sports Management.

Did JD Davison lose a bet?

Paolo looks a lot taller on the court. Weird.

It was a swap. Alex got a more conventional haircut and JD went wild.

What is Alex' status? Did he sign with any team as a free agent?

He's on the Sacramento Kings roster for Summer League, along with DJ Steward. They play their first game later today.

He did a recent ACC Now podcast with the News and Observer. Grant also has a recent one too.

The only haircut Alex O’Connell should be getting is to shave off that thinning scraggly mess and embrace the results.

Worked for Michael Jordan, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, and Kobe Bryant!

We’ll work on Luke Kennard next.

    Speculation relating to Keels

The Knicks signed one of their 2-way players, Jericho Sims, to a 3 Year contract.
    https://nypost.com/2022/07/07/knicks...year-contract/

He's a 2nd round pick from last year; a center from Texas who showed some potential.

In the article it mentions that this frees up a 2-way position that can be used to sign Trevor Keels.

This would not be bad for Trevor. It would give him a taste of the garden while spending lots of time in the G-League getting experience.

And he can get to know Bridgeport Connecticut a lot better. Hope it works out for him.

The #42 pick is right around the point where you get a guaranteed 2 or 3-year deal versus getting just a 2-way contract. With no other draft picks, I would have expected Trevor to get a 2-year contract at the NBA minimum, which is a lot lot lot better than a 2-way contract.

If Trevor only signs a 2-way deal, then a very strong argument can be made that he made a big mistake in not coming back to school. His NIL income would likely have been darn close to what a 2-way deal would net him and the chance to develop into a first rounder would have given him a chance at bigger contracts and more job security over the next few years.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?
