Not sure that makes sense, but this whole war has gone very differently than I expected so my insight is of limited value...
I think it was because they couldn't get in there to rescue them and they needed to get Russia agreement to get the badly wounded out. That is what they said at least. I feel for those POW's. They will not be treated according to war conventions - they will be mistreated horribly, some possibly killed or tortured. I only say that because that is their history and because of Putin's hatred of those who interfere with his Greater Russia vision.

A top Russian diplomat has resigned his post with a scathing letter attacking Russia's war in Ukraine and what he described as his country's political degradation, according to multiple reports.

"Never have I been so ashamed of my country as on February 24 this year," wrote Boris Bondarev in a letter sent to diplomats on Monday and shared by the nonprofit organization UN Watch.
I hope that guy has a welcome and long lasting home outside of Russia, because if he's going back I don't expect to hear from him again any time in the near future.

Being a Russian diplomat now, in most places, is like being the turd in the punch bowl. The days of sipping wine and vodka with the locals are gone...social outcasts to say the least.

In other news, Starbucks is picking up their oddly named coffee sizes (Venti isn't a size!) and going home.
Starbucks Corp said on Monday it will exit the Russian market after nearly 15 years as the coffee chain joins McDonald's Corp in marking the end of the presence of some of the top Western brands in the country.

My former routine of going to the dump on Saturdays while listening to Car Talk was beyond wonderful...I could feel my chest hair growing as I drove it was so manly man.

I listened to Click & Clack every Sunday morning with my GF. Thankfully, they didn't have the same effect on her as they did with you.

I was able to spread sporks your way, but that's just too good not to give a "back on topic" shoutout to anyway.

Same here except for the dump part. Few people literally make me LOL but they did, on a regular basis.

Every time I drove through Harvard square I'd look up at a second floor window and see gold lettering for the law firm of "Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe."

I found my Durham auto mechanic through Car Talk. They had a listing where people could nominate great mechanics and that is how I found out about the wonderful Wasp Automotive and its honest-as-the-day-is-long owner.
Oh, and Russia is bad. (To stay on topic.)

Did they ever chat with a Lada owner?

Do they still employ emissions tester Justin Hale and Lugnut Specialist Tad Tolouse?

Must spread sporks but I go to Wasp, too. But they are slowly losing their original owners, I fear.
