Honest question for those who have been watching Pujols on this run - is he being pitched normally? Or is he sometimes being gifted some strikes? I’ve heard complaints of the latter, but haven’t watched and don’t know.

Don’t think he’s being gifted anything, the HR last night was on a hanging slider as some others have been lately. Hard to gift a non-executed pitch in my opinion. Seems unlikely to me pitchers would do that.

He bet on himself at age 30 in his free agent year. He then set the Yankee franchise and AL single-season HR record.

The Yankees have to re-sign him. I think he could and should get in the ballpark of 10 years $500-$600 million from them.

The Braves just beat the Marlins.

The Atlanta Braves are the 2022 NL East division champions. That’s their fifth consecutive NL East division pennant. They own the NL East.

The Mets spent 289 days the last two regular seasons in 1st place in their division. That’s the most days spent by any MLB team in first place of their division during that timespan. However, they have zero divisional pennants to show for it.

The Mets officially will be playing in the NL wild card series and most likely against a tough Padres team. The Mets led the division by 10.5 games on June 1st.

That's worth a little emphasis, don't you think? It's been 20 years since the Mariners made the playoffs at all. Of course, they are still the only MLB franchise never to have even made it to the World Series, let alone win it, and that's a streak I do not expect will be broken this year. But still, making the playoffs at all is pretty remarkable for them.
