Got a link? Or even better, a name?

Jarrett Garner (per his Twitter): https://twitter.com/_Jarett2fo/statu...deE0XBK_vDoNww

He entered the portal in January (and didn't participate in the spring so far as I know) so this isn't really a surprise.

He had great speed but questionable hands. Could be looking for playing time if he was getting passed by some of the younger guys. Could have been really attached to the old staff and wanted a fresh start. He was a redshirt junior and may have graduated. This list is not exhaustive, but there are a number of reasons he might have left for ECU.

I think calling Garner "productive" seriously overstates his career at Duke. He had all of 10 receptions last year. He's been very visible at WR for two seasons for two reasons: 1) he was one of the only guys on the team who could get open deep (good), and 2) his hands are simply awful (not so good). He was given lots of opportunities and just didn't perform.

He dropped the first long (wide open) pass of the season in our opening game last year. I distinctly remember that. He did catch a similar touchdown pass later in the season, so there was that.
    Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!

I did have some optimism that if he could work on his hands he could be a real threat, but it is possible that just wasn't in the cards. We have a lot of guys with the potential to pop at that position.

Wish him well at ECU, in any case.

I may be stating the obvious and apologies if so, but if anyone is so inclined you can click on the "WePlayed Moments" tab in his bio and you can see some highlights. Several nice plays at or behind the LOS.
Excited about that. The transfer portal hit our secondary bad the last few years.

From what I've been told about Garner, the issue has always been his hands. You'll remember that he's had some big drops over his career. The prior staff should've converted him to the secondary. As fast as he is, I bet he could have been a good player back there. I hope he does great at ECU.

For what it's worth, I believe you can actually vote once per day, for those who are so inclined.

The Athletic (paywall) has a nice "State of the Program" article on Duke FB. Among other things, this really points out the many areas of the program that need improving. Even though I know that coaches are always most optimistic before their first game has even been played, I really want to believe in Coach Elko when he says "This program will get off the mat quickly, and we’ll be successful. I truly believe that."

Thanks for sharing! Always nice to see a detailed analysis of Duke Football (I got a $1 per month deal on The Athletic and have loved it so far, although I can't say I'm sold on keeping it at the regular price yet maybe some more pieces like this would do it ).

So, the creative team at Duke has been putting out some really cool stuff since Elko came on board, one of which is a series of ~3 minute videos taking a look at some of the players' tattoos. If you want to get to know some of the guys on the team (or even if you're just bored) go give them a look now that the series is complete!
(If you are not a fan of tats this may not be your thing )

Not sure this is the right place, but Mataeo Durant and Josh Blackwell have signed free agent deals with the Steelers and Eagles, respectively. And Brittain Brown was the 250th pick in the draft, heading to the Raiders.

Hopefully one day DFB in the NFL draft will be very much on topic. But, unfortunately UFA signings are far more prevalent and of interest to the Duke crowd.

As you know, Duke actually had four players drafted last season; Noah Gray, Chris Rumph, Vic Dimukeje and Michael Carter. Hopefully that will be a usual thing moving forward. Elko's job will depend on it.

    Two more portal additions:

Ty Lendhardt, QB from Columbia (a fair bit of game action, but presumably this is for depth): https://twitter.com/DeMathaCatholic/...85611486904320

Harrison Wellmann, WR from Johns Hopkins (where he was apparently pretty productive, hard to know if that will translate at the P5 level): https://twitter.com/h_wellmann/statu...36553798569984

I wonder if going after guys who pop at Ivies and other high-academic schools and want to move to a higher level while maintaining challenging academics could be fruitful ground for us going forward.

Yep. I love seeing when our guys get taken, and last year was great...and at the same time so frustrating given the season that we had. Another coaching red flag that was waved when we compared the talent we had with the results on the field.

Side note...a FB friend shared this today from her memories. That's pretty funny, and both did well.

New coach alert: Welcome Keith Larson! Appears he was ST and DB coach for Bucknell, and coaches at the D3 level prior to that (RPI, Robert Morris). Played at Valparaiso, started coaching as a grad assistant in 2014. I haven't seen any announcement about his role, but happy to have him on board!

Since I'm here, friendly reminder that you can vote for these guys for High School OT honors once per day until May 15th!
