I think we will. I don't have any delusions that next year will even be a winning one, but I do think we'll have less losses. And when those losses come, if they aren't the blowouts that we sadly became accustomed to of late, the culture of Duke football should change in the same way that it did with Cut's arrival.
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."

Pretty stark assessment of how bad Duke was last year...130th out of 130 teams in defense, and it DID seem that bad. I expect some very good years ahead, but 2022 will be a grind, hopefully we develop a new culture.
Agreed. The talent is just not there. Baby steps in year one, then go recruit like hell.

Both indicate they came out yesterday, though that could be internet speak for February (I couldn't tell)...

The CFN article is very good. If Kevin Johns is going to run an uptempo offense that throws the ball a lot, Riley Leonard needs to be the starting QB as I saw no evidence Jordan Moore is a passer.

My understanding is that Johns likes to run up tempo but that doesn't necessarily mean pass-first. He had more than one 1,000 yard rusher at Memphis I believe.

As far as the QB situation I don't think we can glean too much from the performances last year positive or negative for either guy. That season was just too much of a mess.

Yet another transfer as NIU safety (and FCS all-american) Darius Joiner will be joining us for the upcoming season! Huge get! (don't let the FCS pedigree fool you)

Great news! We need talent upgrade across the board but especially in the secondary. Our pass defense was porous last season.

He actually played at Wester Illinois, not NIU. He led the entire FCS in tackles last year. Nice size, 6'2" 200 lbs.

Welcome to Duke Darius! Bleed Blue!

Brain cramp, thanks for the correction!

He also originally played at Jacksonville State before transferring to Western Illinois. From what I gather he wasn't getting much opportunity at Jacksonville, transferred to WIU and immediately made an impact.

247 listed him as their 5th best available transfer, and the best DB. They also quoted him, “the coaches had great experiences dealing with safeties and developing safeties and I wanted to learn as much as I could.”

This is the program’s strength, at least for the next year or two. Most of our players haven’t experienced a lot of college success, but the coaches have.

I also liked Joiner’s comment on Twitter: “everything you thought was tryna drown you was actually tryna teach you to swim.”

He was the #5 uncommitted transfer. I guess that's what you meant by "available," but I read it wrong.

Is he possible, available, or uncommitted? So many possibilities.

When the football team recruits well, I’m happy to say tomatoh…

Another one! This time a transfer from Cornell, Eric Gallman II. Listed as WR/PR/KR, looks like his most productive seasons at WR came in 2018/2019. Welcome aboard!

Coach Elko said he wasn’t going to make a living in the Portal but rather, use it as a tool. He seems to be using the Portal quite judiciously as he patches craters in the roster.
So looking forward to seeing what this all looks like on the field.

My appetite is voracious and I have 4 years of eligibility. I do have some issues with mobility but who doesn’t at 65 with knee issues
