Duke wins the first game today 13-1 vs Army.
In the second game, Duke trails #19 Michigan 2-0 in B1, but they're threatening to score.
Duke loses to Michigan 3-2. Left 7 on base including two in the last inning with no outs.
PSG did not look to have her best stuff tonight, but the defense let her down in the first inning. Then we had a baserunner called out for leaving the base too soon. We could not get a clutch hit until the 7th, and then only one. In that inning a baserunner held at second as the center fielder bobbled the ground ball. Maybe if she had gotten to third (with no one out) we could have manufactured a run. (There are supposedly nine ways to score from third with less than two outs, most of which do not require a hit, or so I have been told). It appeared that everything the Michigan pitcher threw was a riser, and we helped her by chasing. Tough loss, but it's still early. And Wright pitched well in relief.
I'm surprised to see St. George pitching the first game today vs. No. Kentucky rather than Walters. Walters has not pitched since the 19th and she has been considered Duke's #1 pitcher, although St. George is certainly a great #2. Maybe they're saving Walters for Game 2 today vs. Michigan.
Duke leading NKU 10-0 after 3.
Another run-rule win 15-0 in 5 innings. Grand slam by CF Kelsey Zampa (Fr.) and 3 other HR's. Only 1 hiit given up by the 3 Duke pitchers.
Jala Wright is starting the final game with Michigan. I wonder what's up with Shelby Walters?
Duke wins 6-1 over Michigan. Record is now 13-3.
Jala has proved to be pretty good this past week.
Duke starts a 3-game series at Georgia Tech. Trailing 1-0 after 1. Peyton St. George pitching. Where is Shelby Walters?
Grand Slam Fr. Ana Gold, Duke leads 4-1 in T4.
