Big week for the conference standings. Miami hosts UNC and then FSU. UNC travels to Miami (as mentioned) and to Wake. We travel to Tallahassee before hosting Syracuse. Not out of the question for us to be in sole possession of first in the conference by Saturday night. Of course, getting the W tomorrow night will be a critical first step.

Why are ND and Howard playing? Seems a bit odd during the conference season.

Notre Dame vs. a pre-eminent HBCU on Martin Luther King Day?

Howard playing on MLK Day makes sense to me. I didn’t get the Notre Dame connection.

I posted about this in another thread (the This Week in the ACC 1-17-11-23 thread wasn't up yet):

That is great to see. Good job by Blakeney and Brey. I haven’t really followed Kenny at Howard. It looks like it was an entertaining game — sorry I missed it.

I think it was mentioned elsewhere but here are a few reasons:

    1. Brey coached Blakeney at Duke so they know each other
    2. Brey has ties to the DC area (he was at DeMatha before Duke)
    3. Nice way to get on national TV with a feel-good story, playing a solid but not great team
    4. There are some very good basketball programs, and particularly Catholic schools, in the DC area, so it is good recruiting exposure
    5. One of their best players Prentiss Hubb went to one of these schools (Gonzaga) so it is a nice way to get him a home game since Maryland is no longer in the ACC

    # 6 Some major universities are scheduling games with HBCU's as a desire to help these schools. As one example, Stanford hosted NC A&T earlier this season, not exactly a neighborhood school..

Anyone still think Miami, FL isn’t the real deal?

    They’re up 2 touchdowns early on UNC-CH.

    Jim Larrañaga for ACC COY.

They were picked 12th in the league this past preseason.

If you do still think Miami, FL is a fluke, what do they have to do to garner some respect?

    39-18 Miami, FL over UNC-CH.

    24:20 left.

    Heels look good.

I’m calling it. Crucify me if you want to. This game is over.

49-22 Miami, FL at the half.

If UNC-CH wins this game, I’ll get neutered.

I’m cooking dinner for the family and I keep making more sides so I can keep watching this game….. ‘cause it’s kind of the dessert.

This team does not play very well away from home. Strange.

Holes either win big in chapel hole or lose BIG away. Miami putting an old fashion butt stomping on the cheats!!
