The Knicks next game is Saturday in Atlanta.

Perhaps the Knicks felt the were overloaded on Calipari guys with Knox, Randle, Quickley, Noel, Derrick Rose (at Memphis) plus Toppin’s brother now plays at Kentucky. Get rid of the worst of the batch.

This was the best offer that the Hawks got for Reddish. He was a bust as the #10 pick.

Maybe the Hawks expect that Jalen Johnson will turn out to be better than Reddish.

Without Duke colored glasses on, I think the trade is basically a swing for upside swap for both teams. I like Cam and hope he finds a consistent role with the Knicks and keeps getting better. But from a realistic standpoint, he's a bit of a chucker who is pretty inefficient. He is shooting a career best level this season, but that's just 40.2%.

The Knicks needed another wing, because Cam is probably still better than current starter Evan Fournier, especially on the defensive end.

The pick traded to the Hawks is top 18 protected, which I think is about the best you can do for Reddish at this point. They were not going to get a lottery pick for him. The Hawks are insanely deep at the wing position, with DeAndre Hunter finally returning from his wrist surgery, along with Bogdanovic, Huerter, Gallinari, and Collins all getting minutes at the 2-4. They were most likely not planning on extending Cam, so getting something for him makes sense. The Hawks have done well with later first round picks, with the likes of Huerter, Collins, and Jalen Johnson all being later-ish picks.

In the end, I don't really think this significantly moves the needle for either team. It'll be fun to see Cam and RJ reunited, though. New York Dukies.
