    Duke @ Notre Dame rescheduled - 1/31

Game will now be on Jan 31

    https://goduke.com/news/2022/1/10/me...or-jan-31.aspx

the Blue Devils will now travel to Notre Dame on Monday, Jan. 31 for a 7 p.m. game that airs live on ESPN.

The ACC has not yet announced a rescheduled date for Duke’s game at Clemson that was set to be played Dec. 29. Both the Clemson and Notre Dame games were postponed by the University’s health & safety protocols.

The ACC also announced that three other previously-postponed games have been rescheduled:
Monday, Jan. 24 – Boston College at Wake Forest, 6 p.m., ACCN (originally scheduled for Dec. 22)
Monday, Jan. 24 – Virginia Tech at North Carolina, 8 p.m., ACCN (originally scheduled for Dec. 29)
Monday, Feb. 21 – Florida State at Boston College, 7 p.m., ACCN (originally scheduled for Dec. 29)

In addition, two games have been adjusted:
Tuesday, Feb. 1 – Boston College at Virginia, 6 p.m., ACCN (originally scheduled for Feb. 1 at 8 p.m.)
Tuesday, Feb. 1 – North Carolina at Louisville, 8 p.m., ACCN (originally scheduled for Jan. 31)

Sensible. We had a week off at that juncture, so glad they could get that one back on the schedule. And while it isn't optimal to play Notre Dame so quickly after another game, at least we get several days before the UNC game.

Not sure what we'll do about Clemson.

So we play @Louisville on Saturday, then have to turn around and play @ND on Monday? That's a really tough turnaround for two road games. Gotta deal with it though.

Most likely they just go straight from Louisville to South Bend. Which is not a long trip. But yeah, that turnaround isn't favorable. Especially as Notre Dame has a home game that Saturday.

But, oh well. Such is life with COVID rescheduling.

Awesome, was wondering if/when they would do that. Is Clemson still looking to reschedule?

With an added 4 hour drive (or ~1 hr flight).

The game before Louisville is a Tuesday home game so we have a decent break leading into Louisville, then Louisville is at noon on Saturday, which is better than if it was an evening game. It looks like it is a four hour drive across Indiana (cue Hoosiers imagery) from Louisville to South Bend, so unclear when they travel. So this is not ideal but a lot easier than if it was Miami and Syracuse or something like that.

The following weekend we have another quick turn from at Carolina Saturday night to home vs. UVA on Monday. No travel involved but very little time for rest and preparation. As someone else noted, it is good tournament prep, but still not fun.

ND badly needed this game not to be canceled, as they need to beat Duke to have any chance at NCAAT. But speaking of turnarounds/busy schedule, the Duke game will be the middle of 5 games in 11 days for the Irish. And if the NCAA requires a day off every week or so, the Irish will probably have but a single day to prep for each of their last 4 opponents in that stretch (including Duke), plus travel to Miami and Raleigh for the last 2.

We catch a small break in that our UL game is at noon, while ND doesn’t play UVa until 6. I’d be curious as to whether they’d bus to Indianapolis to watch the ND game, then bus on to South Bend the next morn. Or maybe they’ll fly to SB on Sat?

Clemson should be scheduled either on Jan 27 as the second half of a back to back set of games, or Feb 10th or 17th as both Duke and Clemson are currently scheduled for Tue/Sat those weeks.

Not a fan of playing them Jan 27th. We're already playing a road game on the 29th and a road game on the 31st now. That would mean 3 road games in a 5-day span. It is also just 2 days after we play... Clemson in Cameron. So, yeah, that seems distasteful to play them 2 times in 3 days.

Feb 10th would be palatable as we at least have a home game on the 7th. We then go to BC on the 12th, which is not ideal, but doable. Clemson is home that entire week, so they might be okay with it.

Feb 17th would work great for us, but Clemson has road games at FSU and Louisville on the 15th and 19th. So, not a great fit for them. Although at least a little less awful than Jan 27th in that they'd probably come home between those two road games anyway.

Obviously there is no good time to wedge another game into the schedule, but Feb 10th seems like the best (or least bad) fit.
