This Week in the ACC: 12/6-12/12

Bit of a mixed bag for the week. The ACC lost the challenge, but not by as wide a margin as it could have been, scoring wins in several games in which the ACC team was the underdog. The conference is no longer the worst of the power 6 (thank you PAC-12). There’s a little opportunity in the pre-exam week for extra marquee wins, but if we can just avoid bad losses (I’m looking at you, Pitt, as a home underdog to Colgate and a home barely favorite to Monmouth) that will be an accomplishment in and of itself.

Losing to Monmouth would be especially bad because they are coached by King Rice. Who sucks. He really, really sucks.

Wow! I mean, I knew he was a huge hoops fan from watching him at all those Raptors games... but taking on the Clemson squad all by himself. That's impressive. And he's only a 1 point underdog...

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

In the December 6, 2021, Associated Press Top 25 basketball poll, the Atlantic Coast Conference had exactly one ranked team (with your Duke University Blue Devils checking in at #3). Otherwise, bupkis.

Dafuq, y’all??!! I mean, I know we are a football conference now & everything, but still ……

Yup. The conference can easily handle as many OOC losses as uNC has OOC games without any issues at all.

Tomorrow’s UVa game at JMU is expected to be the most attended basketball game in Harrisonburg history.

Feels like this might be the most boring week of basketball for the rest of the season. No Duke games and no ACC games that look even mildly interesting. I can only hate watch UNC once, and it's unlikely to produce the desired result. Time to invest some time with the wife and kids so I can store up some goodwill for when things pick back up!

UVa is down 24-14 at the half at JMU.

UVa was 1-14 from 3 that half.

    UVa

Losing 24-14 at the half to JMU. Clark just made a three to snap an 0-12 start from long range. JMU had a 22-1 run.

    I believe UVa actually started 0-13 from 3 before Clark’s made 3.

Why would any top player play for UVA.

They cannot score. Down 24-14 to JMU after score 3 points in last 12:30 0f first half. I think Bennett’s days are over being in top tier of NCAA teams.Kids want to run and score.

UVA's offense tonight seems to be focused on setting up as many good 3 point looks for the worst outside shooting UVA team in recent memory. UVA is 1-14 on 3s despite most of them being completely wide open, and is now 5-35 on 3s over the last 2 games. If JMU could hit 3s this would would be a massacre.

The UVA-James Madison game is already covered in the This Week in the ACC and the "I'm Not Going to Jinx It" threads, and is unworthy of its own thread.

Name me 3-4 NBA players from Virginia? Never said his days are over. Who wants to play for a team that score 55 points a game?
