Congratulations to Mataeo Durant: Duke All Time Single Season Rushing Leader!

This achievement deserves its own thread. Congratulations to Mataeo on a hard-earned accomplishment! This is a great thread for celebrating Mataeo and reminiscing about running backs of days gone by. This is a terrible thread for discussion about the general state of the program, please keep that elsewhere.

Congrats, Mataeo. A great accomplishment in any year; particularly impressive this year.

Baldwin was the magical 1994 season when I was at Duke. Whatever happened to him?

Congrats to Mataeo. A bright spot in a disappointing season.

Crap, I missed one and the edit window is closed. If a mod could fix the opening post that would be great.

It is a small disappointment that it is Deon Jackson that gets bumped from the top 10.

Well done Mataeo! That guy played so hard on every single play and really deserved this record. Will miss watching him each week as he seemed like he could go the distance almost any time he touched the ball. Best of luck young man!

How many yards did he have? Really surprised not to see the actual new record in this thread or on twitter.

Plum Branch, SC (Mataeo’s hometown) is about 15 minutes from where I am. It is not even a wide spot in the road — pretty sure there is not a single red light.

Right on the lake, some really nice spots.

I went looking, but unfortunately his name is shared by thousands of folks, so all I found was a newspaper reference that had been deleted but seemed to imply he coached high school for period of time after Duke.

The Chronicle reports his season-ending total as 1,241.

A Duke legend that will be remembered a long time. He is an absolute beast.

He’s gonna make an NFL GM look very smart for drafting him in a few years.

Thanks for looking - I also did a Google search and got nowhere. Duke named an auditorium after the guy - it was quite the season

Figured #1 was Baldwin. I always forget Steve Jones, who was before my time. And my time included 3 Duke rushers having 100:yard games in the same game. Yes, that is a thing that happened.
