    Stephen Sondheim, RIP

I'm a huge Sondheim fan. No joke. He was 91 so no big surprise. But a huge loss.

An incredible American theater talent. What a career.

I’m sure Broadway will plan a memorable tribute. Would be worth going to New York City to see it

Send in the Clowns from A Little Night Music remains my single favorite song from Broadway.

A Little Night Music is the only musical I'm aware of that was written entirely in time signatures of three - 3/4, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8. And it was a smash hit. The man was a genius, and I love his work. Sad to lose him, even at the ripe old age of 91.

West Side Story, still the best.

And he died a couple of weeks before the premiere of the movie reboot. I assume he got to see a rough cut.

Yeah, I'd bet he did and that it was pretty close to polished. I'll reserve judgment, and only a fool doubts Spielberg, but hard to see how it beats Natalie, Rita, Russ, George, and Richard. Though I'm assuming this Maria does her own singing. So I'll say it comes out even with both being spectacular.
