A humble thank you from me to all who served.
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'

I personally would prefer to celebrate Armistice Day/Remembrance Day today (the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour of the eleventh month), and save the long weekend that traditionally starts off the summer as a celebration for the living. That would also bring us in line with European practices. Alas, we already had established the tradition at the state level of a Memorial Day celebrated in May back in the 1890s, and traditions are hard to change.

So, since today is the appropriate day where I live: Thank you to all who have served or are currently serving.

Thanks to all, past and present, who have sacrificed so much. Today I consider it Armistice/Remembrance Day, and I will choose to honor the fallen. I will celebrate the living during a three-day weekend at the beginning of summer. Again, thank you all, past and present.

    Serving those who served

My dad was a WWII vet, as were many in that “Greatest Generation”.

As for our veterans, I am a proud board member (and treasurer) of The Warrior Connection, Inc.(https://warriorconnection.org), a 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to serving veterans at risk for suicide due to PTSD and similar. I read that 17 veterans commit suicide per day. That is simply unacceptable!

On this Veteran’s Day, I urge all my connections to support this great organization.
