How does #12 Oregon lose at home by 32 to unranked BYU?!
In the inspired play department, Michigan extends Juwan's contract for five more years, then the Wolverines go out and gack up a game to Seton Hall (at home no less).
This lifelong Seton Hall fan went to sleep early in the second half assuming it was over, so I woke up pleasantly surprised. Willard is an excellent coach. Few things make me happier than hearing Raftery do a Seton Hall game (he used to coach there and lives in the area).
In the article I read about the Michigan game, it mentioned the Big Ten is now 0-4 in the Gavitt games against the Big East - including losses by Wisconsin to Providence, Illinois to Marquette, and Nebraska to Creighton. Other than Nebraska, the other three were supposed to be good to excellent and all lost to unranked Big East teams. I don’t know if this should give me some hope about the ACC in the Challenge or if it will just make the likely shellacking more of a disappointment….
Don't look now, but Oscar Tshiebwe is tied for 5th in KenPom's way-too-early NPOY ranking.
OR%: 33.6% (1st in country)
DR%: 33.9% (15th)
Block%: 8.7% (99th)
He has put up 17pts/19rebs/2blks versus us. Then 14/20/3. Then 24/16/3.
It's early and two of those games are against nobodies, but those are nonetheless gaudy numbers. Last thing I want is to let those critical of Mark Williams off the hook for claiming Tshiebwe was just your run-of-the-mill power conference center. If he keeps this up he's in the NPOY conversation for sure.

ETA: Was Mason Plumlee in the NPOY conversation in 2013? He averaged 17.1/9.9/1.4 that year. For reference.

George Mason over the Terps 71-66. They are now 1-9 all-time against Maryland.
The Big 10 still does not have a single win over a Power 5 team.
In the earlygoing, it is the Big East that has been impressive. Big 10 and ACC? Not so much.
Jeff Goodman reports that Ohio State's SR F Justice Sueing is out indefinitely following an abdominal injury. That's a big hit for tOSU. Sueing started every game last season after transferring from Cal. That leaves Justin Ahrens as the primary wing for the Buckeyes, a Joey Baker type that is mostly a dedicated shooter. That's a pretty big downgrade for them on the wings.
VCU beat Vandy 48-37 last night in Nashville as 5 point underdogs.
How long before Jerry Stackhouse is relieved of his duties as head coach of Vandy?
He’s now 22-38 at Vandy in his 3rd year there. And 6-28 in the SEC.
Woof.
