Impressive! We looked great, especially on defense - held them to 0 points from what I can tel!
Looks like Duke lost the first scrimmage by a point or so. Some scrub time in there as well which is interesting. Maybe a scrub game in between starter games?
Edit: well maybe it wasn’t a bunch of games. Close to the end mark it looks like Duke is up 90-86.

"I wanted it to be in my hands," Roach said of his game-sealing drive. "I wanted to take—I wanted that moment."
"Definitely was a bit personal for me," Roach added. "I mean, what happened last year, obviously, but just wanted to come out here and do anything I can to get this win, and we did that." Duke-Carolina, Cameron Indoor, Feb. 4th 2023
I’m legit surprised we’re able to get these highlights… everything I’ve read emphasizes that schools aren’t supposed to be able to publicize these events in any way. But I’ll take it!

Quick thoughts:
-I loved how involved Joey was throughout the package. He’s no longer a guy who is just sitting in the corner waiting for a shot.
-Paolo grabbing a board and initiating the break is gonna be fun to watch all season.
-I’m betting the lack of Mark highlights was matchup dependent since Nova isn’t especially big this year. I wonder if this would be the type of game with a lot of a smaller lineup with Paolo at the 5.
-If both Wendell and Trevor can score like this package made them seem like they can, oh boy are we gonna have fun this season.

Blakes played with the rotation players.

"The Blue Devils and Wildcats, who have combined to win three of the last six national championships, played in periods of 20 and 10 minutes, respectively, before simulating late-game situations and allowing the reserves and walk-ons to scrimmage for six minutes."
"This was a great day for us to simulate an actual road trip," said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "We came in the night before, had a little bit of a scouting report on Villanova – they have a veteran team, and we knew a lot about their players. We were here for two and a half hours playing. Overall, I thought it was a great day for both teams. Jay Wright is a great friend and he has a big-time program. Both teams played so hard and it was a good day for us in our development."

It was so fun to see the players really enjoying themselves. Wendell's smile was priceless. Paolo looked much less frustrated than he did in the intra-team scrimmages.
Looking forward to seeing the team play a WHOLE game.
Go Duke!
Enjoyed the highlights and I am really pumped for the season to start. Paolo is the real deal. Keels looks like a primary ball handler - maybe THE primary ballhandler. The players all looked like they were having fun, running the break and finishing well.
I'm not going to make too much of the final score given the strange format. Just the fact that we were competitive with an experienced Villanova team who is ranked #4 in the preseason AP poll is tremendously encouraging. If it's true that we actually beat them in a scenario that resembles a game at all, then my expectations went way up.
Watching the clips of the game, got my Duke blood pumping this morning. From what little I saw I was pleased by: Paolo handling the ball like a 6'2" inch point guard, Keels looking like the real deal, Wendell's confidence and all around game, and the bench being fired up. I'm trying not to be overly confident in this years team but I like the way it's constructed.
GoDuke!
