That is perhaps the best reason I've ever heard for making a football pick. I'm glad you got to share that moment with your son. Best wishes to you, your son, and your entire family.

I appreciate those of you who have commented and reached out.

But this is a fun thread and far be it from me to cast a pall over a fun thread.
I still have more bad picks to make and the Jets are still in play.

Looked a little hairy there for a while, but me too. I like having a viable pick in Thursday night games so I can secure advancement early.

Looks like 4 of us took the Bengals. That would have trimmed down the pool quite a bit.

They (Bengals) looked really good last week. Squeezed this one out.

NFL has no cupcakes. Except the Jets last year.

The way I look at it is that the Bengals look less trustworthy for at least a few weeks than they did heading into the Jaguars game, but now that I’ve picked them, I don’t need to trust them anymore, plus my opponents in the pool have one less “strong” option to choose from.

Only one person took the any Jet's opponent in the no strike league. It's being put to the test. I may be out of thentwo strike league before my one strike entry.

A big W in overtime for Daniel Jones’s Giants notches an elimination.

"Pick against the Jets" might not get the job done this week...
Today, the Failcons announced that their best receiver, Calvin Ridley, will not even be making the trip to London with the team for the game vs. the Jets. Add this to the fact that a) the game is in London and thus a weird crapshoot in the first place, and b) the Failcons aren't good even when Ridley does play, and to me, it's a "pick against the Jets at your own peril" week.

Yeah, at no time this season will I be picking the Falcons. On paper they should be much better than the Jets but this team finds a way to lose in really impressive fashion.

Meanwhile, if you don't trust the Jets opponent, Detroit and perhaps the Jags look like fine alternatives if you are going to play the "pick against a crappy team" method of winning in Survivor.

That is what drove me to pick the 1-3 Minnesota Vikings this week... they are playing Detroit.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

But their kicker missed 4 kicks that could have won it easily much earlier.
3 FG attempts in 10 minutes at the end.
