Thanks for identifying where to find the replay. Perhaps the one keeper criticism I would make is that she does flinch her weight very slightly toward the far post just before the shot, so she is not completely evenly balanced until she gets a first little hop in, which doesn't complete until slightly after the ball is struck. So maybe an absolutely perfect goalie performance could have just reached the shot...maybe. But that's a really, really high expectation, IMO, and in the heat of the action, I still think very few - if any - keepers actually make that save. But OK, it was not perfection, and as it is, the keeper didn't miss by much.

But really, for me, the first comment was mostly about the shot. It was a thing of beauty.

If you freeze the video at the 3 second mark as the ball goes over the ducking defenders head, you will see the goalie is still standing there flat-footed on the goal line. The ball has already traveled 10 of the 23 yards and she has not moved an inch.

A split second later, she steps over with her left leg first....she should have been planting with her left and power stepping with her right immediately...the footwork was all wrong

A split second after that she has slide stepped with her right and is squared up...but her legs are locked out and her right arm is extended...she should have been turned and reaching with her far (left) arm and driving the ball over the crossbar.

When she finally jumps, she is leaping with her body going backwards (a major no-no) and her short arm extended

We just beat the #10 ranked team in the country. Let's enjoy the shot, and look forward to the game with East Carolina next Thursday at Koskinen, when we can extend Robbie Church's best-ever season start.

The Stanford-UNC game is Sunday 1pm local time on ACCNX. Stanford will be looking for retribution after losing to Duke. Stanford has won the last three matchups and is 3-4 all-time against UNC.

UNC wins 2-1 in OT. They dominated the 2nd half and the overtime. Duke will face the Heels on Sept. 17 in Chapel Hill. They'll probably both be undefeated and Top 5.

The Hokies are surrendering a lot of goals early on despite their lofty ranking and Duke is averaging a near ridiculous 20 shots per game….this has all the makings of a shootout

Worth mentioning that we will be on the road in both games, as well. This will be a tough 3-game stretch away from home, for sure. It would be nice to grab some points from those first two, especially.

No. 14 Penn State beat the Virginia women last night 4-2.

UVA outshot PSU 24-13, but the Nittany Lions goaltender made a career-high 9 saves. When Duke plays UVA in 2 weeks, Duke will need a similar performnace from Ruthie Jones, who has been stellar thus far. The upcoming schedule provides a week of prep time for both UNC and UVA.
