Thanks DB. I was wondering why there were no live stats.
"This is the best of all possible worlds."
Dr. Pangloss - Candide
Apparently, it was played yesterday but no play by play or team stats were provided. 3-1 loss. Kerr obviously trying to get lots of preseason PT for everyone. Can’t wait to see the starting lineup for the season opener
Women’s team in scoreless tie at the 1st half water break with #23 Washington.
Duke has had the better of it so far outshooting the Huskies 4-1
Michelle Cooper with 3 of the 4 shots
Halftime still scoreless
Huskies clawed back into the game…7-5 now Devils in shots
Cooper with 4 of the 7
Struggling to put the shots on frame…a number of high shots
As the father of 2 goalies…pass it to the post!!! No goalie likes to hit the deck
Cooper scores in the 53rd minute
1-0 Devils
Shot to the low right…assist to Mackenzie Pluck
Duke is really pressing now... several more good opportunities.
15 minutes to go
Still 1-0
Cooper off…looks like we are trying to park the bus to get the W
Huskies tie it at 1 in the 81st minute
Ugh
Never like parking the bus that early by taking your strongest attacker off the field
Goal by Washington with 9 minutes left. Score 1 - 1.
Mackenzie Pluck with a game-winner with 2:30 left for a 2 - 1 Duke win!
Pluck with a goal and an assist today
Pluck and Cooper combine for 11 of Duke’s 17 shots
Back to back wins over nationally ranked opponents
I had to look up that reference
That young lady and Cooper are explosive
A great start to the season
Next up Western Carolina on Thursday followed by Vanderbilt next Sunday
Both Arkansas and Washington did the two-games-on-Tobacco-Road thing. We beat Arkansas 3-1 and UW 2-1, while the Holes beat UW 4-1, and today pulled out a 1-0 win against Arkansas in OT (GW goal scored in the 97th minute - booooo!!).
Duke Women are leading Western Carolina 5 - 0 after 65 minutes. Two goals by Freshman Michelle Cooper, and single goals by Marykate McGuire, Grace Watkins, and Emmy Duerr. It has been total domination of possession and shots by Duke, 21-1. A nice confidence booster for their first road game on Sunday at Vanderbilt. Duke moved up to #5 in the NCAA rankings this week.
6-0 the score
24-1 in shots
They may have the offensive firepower this year to be truly special
