Great game. ND really played well in the 2nd half. Cooper, in case you were wondering, is the real deal. We were not the same team when she was out.

That was a deceptively good game. Duke had all kinds of problems both with the speed of the Notre Dame left winger going forward, and with Notre Dame’s size on defense. I don’t think we had a corner at all in the game, while Notre Dame ended with something like nine of them. And yet, we were enjoying more possession and creating as least as much havoc for Notre Dame in our midfield and coming up with crucial defensive plays when they really needed them. Quite a game, and a really important three points for the overall standings in the conference.

While agree that we weren’t the same, we weren’t chopped liver with her on the bench, either. One of the best chances for Duke came in the second half on a cross in the box just out of reach of McGuire, while Cooper was on the bench. I’d rather have Cooper come in there of course, since she is so dynamic off the direct throughballs, but we were plenty dangerous on the attack even when she rested.

Possession might have been equal but ND had more good opportunities and led 11-7 in shots. Duke was fortunate to come away with a tie.

With one week to go, you have 7 of 12 teams fighting for one of the four 1st round byes in the ACC Tournament: Duke, Notre Dame, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Wake, Clemson and Louisville.

I conclude that this is men's soccer, but some of the posts here could apply to either (but supposedly refer to only one).

The #6 Duke women lead #1 FSU 1-0 at the half. Freshman Cooper with the beautiful assist among many other fabulous passes. She is so fun to watch.

FWIW the GoDuke.com box score credits Royson with the assist and Boade with the goal. The replay shows that Cooper let the ball go through without touching it to Boade which was a really smart play.
