I stand corrected. Should have figured that Jennings would be right and I would be wrong.
Thanks for the correction and education, guys.
Connery was the first film Bond.
David Niven did Casino Royale after a few years, which was the first Ian Fleming book and was billed as “the original Bond” even though it was a send-up well into Connery’s run.
Lazenby followed Connery for a single film, then on to Roger Moore.
Fun Fact: Ian Fleming also wrote Chitty, Chitty, Bang Bang IIRC. Which suffered from a total lack of sexual conquest and exploding gadgets. (So it probably starred Timothy Dalton but my memory may fail me here).

The book is great. One of my childhood favorites. As a kid's book, it naturally doesn't have sexual conquest, but it does have plenty of intrigue, scary villains, and one very notable large explosion. I even used to try to make Monsieur Bon-Bon's Secret "Fooj" (a recipe included in the back of the book), generally with mixed success.
One should never speak of the film, which is a completely unfaithful production and lousy even when taken purely as a musical.
Points for the lyric, but a single line does not a musical make. Can you even name the songs, outside of Toot Sweets and the title tune? Sooo forgettable. And it lasts for two and a half interminable hours. Just awful.
Go get the book. Better yet, give it to your favorite eight-year-old.
Back to Jeopardy! Tuesday's episode had a pop culture category for Final Jeopardy that seemed worth sharing. The category was 1970s Songs and the clue was In 1976 “Bohemian Rhapsody” was replaced at No. 1 on the U.K. charts by this Europop song whose title is heard in Queen’s lyrics.
I got the correct response, but I doubt I could have done it on stage in 30 seconds. In the comfort of home I spent a bit of time wondering if the vague phrase "Queen's lyrics" meant for "Bohemian Rhapsody" or one of their other songs. Also,Spoiler!
Excellent contest Wednesday with two aggressive players going all-in on Double Jeopardy Daily Doubles and then max betting (or, for the winner, covering 2nd place’s max bet) in Final Jeopardy. Second place finished with $51,999, which has to be among the higher scores not to win (I think it’s at least the highest runner up score this season). I would go so far as to call the game thrilling.

The Bond in the 1954 made-for-TV thing was played by Barry Nelson. That's the same actor who plays the pilot (Dean Martin is the co-pilot) in Airport. Also not to be confused with Otto, the automatic pilot in Airplane!
Barry Nelson was also in one of the Thin Man movies.
On 4/29/2019, Adam Levin finished second to James with $53,999.

Tied for 3rd worst score according to the article. And yes, I still use my AOL mail account.

"Jeopardy!" contestant Matt King gained notoriety after appearing on Tuesday’s show, but probably not for the reason he would like.

I just watched Amy Schneider defeat a very determined challenger on November 30. Schneider was far behind starting double jeopardy, but wagered big on a daily double and got it right. A few clues later, the challenger missed a daily double. Schneider got final jeopardy right, while the challenger whiffed. The challenger, described as a dentist and entrepreneur, was very charged up, and Schneider was “knocked back”, but recovered.
The Washington Post has a nice article about Schneider, her strong performance, and her transgender status. Also includes some kind words about Ken Jennings as host. I’ve been very impressed by the job Jennings has done.

I haven’t yet seen tonight’s episode, but I, too, was going to come back to this thread to mention Amy. As of yesterday, well over $300K. Nothing particularly interesting about the way she plays the game, no real pattern to it, really, but a broad range of knowledge. The game two days ago was one of the first times she was really challenged; the dentist person was really smart and quite quick to the buzzer.
Shaping up to be an interesting Tournament of Champions, as this season has produced some very good competitors. Jennings himself pointed out yesterday that Amy’s per day winning average is higher than his was during his run.
I agree about Jennings as a host. I don’t mind Mayim, and had gotten used to her style, but Jennings is just so much better. I thought he was probably the best the first time around, even though he was the first host and had a lot of pressure on him. Now that time has passed and he has had more opportunities, he has gotten better and better. I do notice that Johnny introduces him as “hosting Jeopardy,” whereas when Mayim comes on he says, “now here is the HOST of Jeopardy, Mayim Biyalik” so it seems like there is a pecking order and that Jennings is on the bottom of it.
I wonder if they will get a lot of feedback from long-time viewers asking them to switch the pecking order. And I also wonder whether the reason the order fell that way in the first place might have been that Ken didn’t want to do it full time. A lot of unanswered questions, but I am really enjoying watching Jeopardy with Ken as the host.

I didn't think I'd be updating these tables so soon after Matt Amodio, but welcome, Amy Schneider. The Jeopardy! Fan has now expanded their leaderboard past a Top 10, so I've included Jonathan Fisher's numbers as well.
