Steward drove to the basket and hit a shot with under a second left to end the 3rd quarter. Scroll ahead to the 5:05 mark.

He scored his first points on a layup early in the 2nd quarter (1:20 mark) and made a 9-footer in the 4th quarter (not in video).

I believe that one of DJ's main competitors for a 2-way contract from the Kings is former Texas PG (and former Duke recruit) Matt Coleman. The bad news for DJ is that Coleman was the second leading scorer in this game with 14 points. He also led the team in assists with 4. Coleman played 26 minutes to DJ's 9.

Both Tre and Justin listed as DNP Coaches Decision in big loss. Not a surprise for Justin, but definitely for Tre. Hope that's just a one-game thing and he gets a real chance to establish himself this summer.

To avoid confusion: DJ Stewart, who is playing for Miami's summer league team, was second-team All-SEC as a sophomore at Mississippi St. DJ Steward, the former Duke player, is playing for Sacramento this summer.

True. Mississippi State also has a Jalen Johnson, who declared for the draft but later withdrew. And let's not forget that the Lakers Summer League team has the Justin Robinson who went to Virginia Tech.

My bet is that they may not have cleared some kind of Covid protocol or may not have even been in town yet. Joshua Primo, the Spurs lottery pick (who is a PG, not good for Tre) and Devin Vassell (who was a lottery pick for the Spurs a year ago) were also DNP-CD. I seriously doubt the Spurs summer league team had those guys available and ready to play but left them on the bench so they could play a bunch of undrafted free agents who are not even likely to make a G-League roster.

Maybe they (and Justin Robinson) play tonight. This tweet was posted yesterday, before the Tuesday night game:

    Noah Magaro-George @N_Magaro

Tre Jones, Devin Vassell and Josh Primo are out tonight as the Spurs take on the Jazz White in their 2021 Salt Lake City Summer League debut.

Chicago Bulls (Las Vegas only) introduce draft pick Ayo Dosumnu on a roster that also has an ACC trio: BC's Jerome Robinson, FSU's Patrick Williams, and UNC's Sterling Manley.

    summerbulls2021.jpg

Minnesota Timberwolves (Las Vegas only) have no draft picks and a lone ACC representative: UVA's London Perrantes. "Yah, just drop me off at the Mall of America and pick me up when the Summer League is over," said at least one Wolves fan.

Spurs playing their second Summer League game now. Tre Jones is under concussion protocol (see tweets below). Devin Vassell and Josh Primo are starters. Justin Robinson has not entered the game yet.

No Justin either for the Spurs in a 78-54 loss:

The other Jazz team also won, 94-75 over the Grizzlies:

Over in Sacramento, the Heat beat the Warriors 94-87:

DJ had 2 points in 17 minutes in an 84-74 loss to the Lakers. Davion Mitchell is the first player to reach 7 fouls this year:

I didn't see that part of the game, but the play-by-play says he stole an inbounds pass and scored a layup. You can see the steal around the 4:40 mark:

Not sure why they would edit out the rest of the play.

Atlanta Hawks (Las Vegas only) give us Duke's Jalen Johnson and Javin DeLaurier, plus draft pick Sharife Cooper and Notre Dame's Juwan Durham.

Toronto Raptors (Las Vegas only) bring their draft picks Scottie Barnes, Dalano Banton, and David Johnson, and add some more ACC flavor in Louisville's Anas Mahmoud and Pitt's Justin Champagnie.

Detroit Pistons (Las Vegas only) have a big surprise on their roster: overall #1 pick Cade Cunningham is listed as two inches shorter (6'6" instead of 6'8"). "Don't worry, that's just a typo," said Bubba Cunningham, a distant relative. Among the four draft picks, he and Luka Garza are expected to play. As for the others, Isaiah Livers is injured and will not play, while Balsa Koprivica will be added to the roster once his trade clears.

    summerpistons2021.jpg

Phoenix Suns (Las Vegas only) have no draft picks to debut, but they do have a Jalen Smith and a Jaleen Smith. (Jaleen is just a stretch version of Jalen.)

    summersuns2021.jpg

New Orleans Pelicans (Las Vegas only) have only 10 players on their Summer League roster right now, with draft pick Trey Murphy III to be added soon and Jaxson Hayes in some legal trouble. Draft pick Herbert Jones is on hand, as are Georgia Tech's Moses Wright and Jose "Guitar Hero" Alvarado. New head coach Willie Green will be coaching them.

    summerpelicans2021.jpg

Los Angeles Clippers (Las Vegas only) also posted a 10-man lineup, with draft pick by trade B.J. Boston presumably to be added. Keon Johnson, last seen waiting patiently in the Green Room, will play, as will Jason Preston.

I'm still waiting for official rosters from the Bucks, Celtics, Rockets, and Thunder, but in the meantime there are already some late changes to announced rosters that have nothing to do with draft day trades.

Knicks: Kevin Knox will not play due to "health and safety protocols". Is he still traumatized from last time?

Hornets: the roster surprisingly listed zero players from UNC, but now there are 2. First, Kenny Williams was mislabeled as a Louisville player; the House of Jordan regrets the error. Second, Nate Darling injured his knee and is being replaced by Joel Berry II. Will the Hornets have a backup backup plan in case Berry suffers another video game injury?

Nuggets: Behold, Jimmer Fredette returneth to Summer League. But what does the Scripture say of this?

Javin's Canadian team wished him well as they claimed that he was on his way to a camp with the Bucks, but they apparently got that one wrong.

Sounds like his agent might have been wrong first.

He giveth... and he taketh away. From the Denver Post:

    Mike Singer @msinger

Due to a last-minute issue, Jimmer Fredette will NOT be on the #Nuggets Summer League roster, per source.

Still no Tre Jones tonight in Salt Lake City (concussion protocol). Justin Robinson? We'll see.

    Noah Magaro-George @N_Magaro

Tre Jones, Anthony Mathis, Matt Mitchell and Zach Norvell are out for the Spurs as they take on the Grizzlies in their Salt Lake City Summer League finale.

Jimmer Fredette? Seriously? He's 32 years old. I don't pretend to be an expert on the Summer League but I do not believe it was designed with 32-year-old players in mind.
