While the concept of getting recruiting over as always been a concern of players in college basketball, I wonder if there is also an ego (plus money) factor. For example, if I were Jeremy and had given 4 years to the team and you ONLY offered me 300k for next season knowing that a recruit that had never contributed a minute to the program was getting something like 1MM. How would you handle this? Would you rationalize and keep plugging along or jump ship.

The pros (and the Player's association) instituted a rookie pay scale for this very reason. A lot of veterans were irate that rookies were coming in making so much more than them. I think college basketball needs a rookie pay scale...but since pay for play is disguised as NIL (LOL), I don't think it will ever happen.
