A look at the 1997 team on the front page:

I loved that team. Too bad God intervened (and Austin Croshere, too).
"Amazing what a minute can do."

That article brings back great memories. The Alaskan Assassin was a joy to watch.

Makes me imagine how productive he would be in this day and age where so much is geared around three pointers. I suspect he would have found a long term role in the NBA.

It certainly seems plausible that Trajan would fit in today’s NBA.

So true Bob. What a beautiful stroke.

Maybe Jim can do part 3 and end it with the 1st round win. I was at the Providence game and tough re-living a game we would have won if K/Newton issues didn’t prevail

So nostalgic reading this lookback article..

Felt like College Basketball at its prime. I miss those days.

Great articles - thanks - really well written and catches the essence of things. Back in my glory days. That Carolina win was huge at the time because, as Jim mentioned, no one on campus had experienced a win over Carolina. It was a fun night of bench burning!

I, and others here, have mixed feelings about John Feinstein but that was the season where he basically embedded himself in the ACC and wrote "A March to Madness" about the season, which is a fun read.

The Chronicle also had some good sports writing at the time (IMHO)

    And Part III.

    Thanks, Jim!
