Most of these guys are either Elite highschool players, college players, or nba/ International pros. So deff some good run. Think when Marvin was playing in the drew, this is comparable just not as big.

    Big guard

It seems like the social media team has heard our questions about whether or not Wendell can play the traditional "guard" spots based on this post.

If he is, indeed, a "BIG GUARD" this year, able to play long stretches at the 2 and spell Jeremy at the 1, that will assuage many of our collective concerns about this year's squad I think...

Well, he looks noticeably trimmer in recent photos and videos that I have seen (though his listed weight on the roster is only -3 lbs from last season). This should help his quickness and agility on both ends. Of course, there's still deep shooting and decision making with the ball in his hands. But he's looking more the part at a minimum.

How well can Keels guard opposing guards, I'd like to know. Is he quick enough?

Nobody knows yet. If he isn’t, his playing time will be limited.

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else, but Brendan Marks at The Athletic ($) has a terrific write-up on the state of Duke heading into the season.

    https://theathletic.com/2838456/2021...onship-parade/

A few things that stood out for me, without getting into too much depth:
    - Jon Scheyer feels like Duke has one of or the best frontcourts in the country.
    - Expect to see Paolo deployed like Zion, a player that can guard everyone and play every role on the court
    - Keels's shooting is "a big-time weapon"

I also think the emphasis on having a normal offseason, allowing players to get together, hang out with coaches in a social capacity, and just live a normal life, cannot be overstated. In many ways, last season was not a typical Duke experience. This roster and this team looks a lot more like the ones that came before it that were consistently top 10 teams.

    Definitely worth a read.

I’m not surprised at all about the Paolo quote after watching the scrimmages. That is great to hear about Keels. I believe we need either Keels or Baker, or both, to step up with a Trajan Langdon assassin type of season to give this team the best chance of winning #6.

I know this thread is primarily for Duke news but…

Armando Bacot looks like Popeye. Dude has not skipped an “arms day” in months.

Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

    That looks almost photoshopped. Dang.

Though Popeye was known for his forearms - his upper arms were pretty anemic. Armando looks a bit more like Bluto/Brutus.

Yeah that's got to be photoshopped, I mean his arms are 3/4 the size of his waist. All of the photos of him from earlier in the summer look nothing like this.

    Best shape of his life!

Remember when Sean May was in the best shape of his life?

And Mark has done a few arms workouts, too. Impressive.

Initial thought: good thing for Duke that basketball isn't arm wrestling.

Second thought: Looks strangely edited. Notice how his upper body doesn't really line up with his legs, which are a little bit to the left in the picture.

Not surprised to see it was fake. For a minute there I thought he was going to have to change his name from Armando to Mondo-arm.
