He specifically and categorically denied any interest in being the NCAA basketball Czar. If he's not interested in his specific area of expertise, I can't imagine he'd be interested in a broader spectrum of sports.

And he wasn't asked about it, either. A pre-emptive shot across the bow.

I took this to be an objection to the term "Czar", not to the idea of doing work with or even within the NCAA. I'd have been very curious to hear the response had the reporter used a more neutral description of the role.

Nobody really asked him about this, as well as I remember. In recent years, K has suggested that college basketball would benefit from a different leadership structure and he was forestalling questions that he might be retiring to take over that new, hypothetical, leadership role.
