Nope. Heard we were supposed to have them this year but have seen/heard nary a one.
The 17 year cicadas are now out in force in the DC area. From looking at maps, I see they aren’t in the Triangle area of NC, but may be in western NC.
They are just amazing here. My dog thinks our yard is an all-you-can-eat buffet! One of my neighbors is using a leaf blower to blow away the cicadas as he walks to his car!
Anyone seeing lots of cicadas?
Nope. Heard we were supposed to have them this year but have seen/heard nary a one.
Also in the DMV, I got a lot of them. This morning, I went outside to hear the full aural experience. Sort of like a 50’s sci fi flying saucer sound coming from everywhere all at once.
Fortunately my dog has no interest in them.

Got this pic this morning:

We've had the flying saucer sound for two or three days now. I think it's incredibly cool, but some people are freaked out by it.
Here's some cicada porn: cicadas having sex, which they do rear end to rear end, apparently. (Mods, if this is too racy, feel free to delete it.)brood x sex.jpg

Really saving on kibble this month because my dog loves them.
I've been worried my dog will eat too many and start vomiting. Or worse. Here's a humorous piece about a Washington area dog that didn't know when to stop, titled My Name Is Max And I Have A Cicada Problem:

For those of you dealing with this, you have/had my sympathy. For a humorous look at this 17-year jinx from N. Kentucky, watch the video on the front page of http://www.snappytomato.com It's a parody of Brood X.
I've never eaten Snappy Tomato pizza, but I remember this jingle growing up.
