    2021 Women's Soccer

Prized recruit Sophie Jones just scored the game winner in a 2-1 overtime win against Arizona State in the Second Round NCAA Women's College Cup to advance Duke to the next round. This is the extended season since the Fall schedule was cut short due to the pandemic. Duke is ranked 8th nationally, 9th seed in the tournament, with a record of 11-5-3 overall. Duke plays Ole Miss next on May 5 in the round of 16. https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/soccer-women/d1/2021

Yes, I know. I almost didn't post it. I'm just the messenger. You can also get the stream through NCAA.com at the link above for the brackets.

The game is at halftime now with the score still 1-0 Duke. Duke outplayed Ole Miss with 4 SOG versus 2 for OM.

Indeed...let's go, Blue Devils! We have a tough next round match against conference foe FSU this coming Sunday. We live about 10 mins from WakeMed Soccer Park but unfortunately will be unable to attend due to Mother's Day festivities. The sacrifices we must make for family!

Scoreless in regulation. Now on to the first 10:00 overtime. FSU controlled the second half, but Duke's defense was stout. Anything can happen in OT. FSU is 13-0, ranked #1 and is the #1 seed in the tournament. Go Duke!

We are hanging on, barely. FSU has dominated the ball. Ruthie Jones has been great.

    1. Is OT sudden-death?
    2. Is this game televised or streaming anywhere? (ETA: found a stream here on the same shameful website listed above.)

Yes, that's the link for streaming. There are 2 sudden-death OT's after which it is decided by penalty kicks. I like our chances in penalty kicks. 2 minutes to go in OT #2.

Welp. FSU wins 5-3 in penalty kicks. FSU’s goalie made the difference-making save. Still gave the top seed everything they could handle—lots to be proud of.
