At the age of 23, he was 22+PPG, 10+RPG, and 4+APG... a ridiculous stud. Hurt his back and was never the same player.
He earned $83+ mil from his NBA career and was a huge endorsement guy too. He had to make well over $100 mil in his playing career (which ended in 2001).
In 2015 Larry Johnson filed for bankruptcy. So sad...

So, that tweet is folks making much ado about nothing. Duke MBB twitter ain't sending coded messages like that.
That said, I'm hearing nothing has been decided about Matthew Hurt. He is genuinely uncertain about what to do regarding the NBA draft at this point. I had assumed he was 80 or 90% to enter the draft but I now think it may be much lower than that. Not saying he is coming back or even that he is leaning toward returning, but it is not nearly the longshot that it once seemed to be.

It wouldn't surprised me either way with Matthew Hurt. He's good enough to be in the league because he has one elite skill which will translate to the next level, but he also has been at Duke two years and played 0 NCAA tournament games. That has to be a bummer for him. As a guy who is projected in the 2nd round of the draft, he could go either way.
He may get a slight drop in usage on next year's team, but still I could see him getting better and improving his draft stock. If he did return, he wouldn't be the most talented guy on the roster (maybe not even top 3), but I would still bet on him leading the team in scoring. He will easily be the best shooter on the team, and will have a much easier time getting open with Paolo and AJ commanding much more attention from opponents defensively than his teammates this past season.
In breaking news Joey Baker assures the Duke nation that Cassius Stanley will be back next year.
I know everyone is bored and trying to be funny etc. but I wish these threads would be kept a bit better on track. People click on them hoping for news or information or opinions about the topic at hand and often have to wade through so much which, while it may be cute or funny (or not) has nothing to do with the topic of the thread.
