Duke as a Trademark Bully?

I don't think this is a uniquely Duke thing (or something unique to Universities generally). I think entities acting as trademark bullies is more a symptom of our absolutely awful IP laws (trademark, copyright, etc) than of there being something wrong with the institutions themselves (egregious examples like Ohio State attempting to trademark "The" aside).

That abstract is nonsense. No statistical methods for analyzing their research question are put forth. No results are mentioned. WTF? How did this even get published?
