For the first time in a long time, someone other than UVA is at the top of the conference (at least by percentage - UVA would still be 1/2 game up by the W/L counting method). 9 teams sit above .500 in conference play, some of which have played as many as 14 games and others as few as 10. Lots of sorting out still to happen over the last couple weeks.

This replacement game was announced last Saturday, according to Marquette MBB Twitter. Why would Wojo agree to this?
If we can win both games this week, it will guarantee a winning ACC record and a better than .500 regular season+ACCT record.
And of course these are must wind for our at large chances as we need to make sure to leapfrog Syracuse and Louisville in the pecking order.
Our two games this week are really big. It would be nice to get to 10-6 in the conference and put some distance between us and the mushy middle.
I think FSU is most likely the best team in the ACC but I still need some convincing regarding how good they really are. They are excellent and dominant at home (11-1, loss to UCF???) but pretty mediocre on the road (2-2). It's pretty crazy that they have only played FOUR road games this season. In addition, they lost two of those road games by double digits to unranked Clemson and GT. 3 of their 4 remaining games are on the road but they're not exactly against the top of the conference outside of UNC (@Miami, @UNC, and @ND). I really just don't know how good they are away from home. Their home/road shooting splits are also pretty insane.
They must gave listened to you.
Nice win last night. We were very good on both sides of the ball to build a 20-point lead, then got sloppy at times but played well enough to stiff-arm the Orange.
Suddenly, we’re tied for the second-most conference wins at 9 and up to 5th place.
So is a double bye in the ACC tournament still achievable? (4th place)? I read the end of year standings as
UVA 11-3 (NCSU, Mia, Louis) 14-3
FSU 9-2 (games left with Mia, unc, BC, ND) 11-3 unc game not predicted so as not to jinx anything
VT 8-3 (GT, WF, Louis, NCSU) 11-4
Clemson 7-5 (WF, Mia, Pitt) 9-6
unc 8-5 (FSU, Syr, Duke) 9-5 Duke and FSU games not predicted; If split 10-6
Louis 6-4 (ND, Duke, VT, UVA) 8-5 Duke game not predicted; If loss to VT then 7-6
Duke 9-6 (Louis, GT, unc)
I guess I need to find the calculator. I assume the standings are based on winning percentage rather than win total.
Thanks for those stats. It looks like we may have the toughest games left in regular season. Well the Cheats have tough games as well but they cheat, so there's that. The way our guys are playing, I like our chances but I'm not about to jinx us with a prediction.
GoDuke!
Yes, a double-bye is still possible. If we go 12-6, we'd get the double-bye.
If everyone wins out (unlikely, but this is a hypothetical exercise anyway), here's how it plays out.
Clemson would be 10-5, and we'd be 12-6. That is the same .667 win percentage, but we'd have the tiebreaker head-to-head.
UNC would be 10-6, and thus out. And, honestly, them upsetting FSU would feel a bit surprising. But regardless, they'd be out.
Louisville would be 9-5, which would put them out. And that assumes wins over VT and UVa, neither of which seem likely. Heck, the ND game isn't a given.
Everyone else is out of the picture in a world where we go 12-6.
Clemson has the inside track despite being currently next to last in the standings among the contenders, as they have the easiest remaining road. If they win out, we have to win out to catch them and win on tiebreaker. With anyone else, there is a little more wiggle room given their remaining schedules.
Pitt PG Xavier Johnson is entering the transfer portal and leaving the team effective immediately. Whoa...
X had 11 assists against Duke and was really great in their biggest win of the year, beating Va Tech, when he scored 32 points with 7 assists and 5 boards. He averaged 14.2ppg and led the team in assists with 5.7 apg. But, he has been erratic at times and has been benched a few times this season. It is pretty clear that he and Capel were not exactly getting along.
After starting out 4-1 in the ACC and 8-2 overall, Pitt has lost 7 of 8. It really felt like Capel's boys were turning the corner this season but the wheels have come off.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?
Chance to play a marquee opponent on national TV? Or maybe Wojo just still has the itch to beat Carolina after all these years. Is this the first time a former Duke player other than Capel at Pitt has coached against Carolina?
So who do we want to win this UVA-NC State game? Another loss by UVA would take a lot of shine off our one signature win. However, State is currently #81 in the NET and if they climb to 75 then our road victory over them would count as a Q1 win.
