Rule difference between men’s and women’s. On the women’s side, the scorer’s stick is checked after every goal. On the men’s side, typically one stick on either side is checked at time outs, and each team can challenge the legality of an opposing player’s stick.

Virginia bounced back well from Friday night’s beatdown, earning a split of the weekend with a 14-11 win over the Duke women on Sunday afternoon. The overall result was that the Duke women moved up to number seven in the Nike/USL poll, while Cindy Lou & Co. dropped to number ten. Duke faces another difficult challenge when Notre Dame comes to town on Saturday.

The men were idle last week and held their position in both the IL and Nike/USL polls (two and one, respectively). The ACC fun starts Thursday night when Cuse comes to town for the week’s marquee matchup (7:00 p.m. Eastern on ACCN).

11-5 Duke in the second after it was 5-5. Naso is dominating faceoffs and we are controlling it. They were keeping it close by being efficient on their possessions but now we are on a nice run.

13-11. Horrible third period. No offensive cohesion. Last possession with under 10 seconds they are passing around the perimeter then behind the net. No situational awareness. Hope we got that out of our system.
