Congrats to Drexel and Monmouth, champs of the Colonial and the MAAC.
Georgetown and Denver are under way.

Georgetown comes from two goals down in the fourth to beat Denver for the Big East title, 10-9.
Here’s a wild guess at what the bracket will look like.
(1) Carolina
Monmouth
Denver
(8) Syracuse
(5) Virginia
Villanova
High Point
(4) Notre Dame
(3) Duke
Vermont
Army
(6) Georgetown
(7) Lehigh
Drexel
Bryant
(2) Maryland
This looks pretty likely, actually, and I’d take this draw six times a week and twice on Sundays. I think Denver-Syracuse is a much tougher second-round matchup, for example, than Army-Georgetown, and we’d also get to avoid the other ACC teams until Championship Weekend.
Hopkins is up 6-5 over MD at the end of the first quarter. The game is on the Big 10 network.
Hopkins winning 8-6 at the half. So far, this is looking a lot like the game last month.
MD wins 12-10.
when are the selections made? it's today, right?
Loyola withdrawing from Patriot League is further good news. Lehigh would have been an at large lock had they lost in the championship game. Loyola was unlikely to get an at large bid before. Now with covid uncertainty I doubt the committee would consider choosing them.
Duke the 2 seed in bracket with UMD and ND. Quarters are at ND.
Duke opponent is High Point.
Assuming we beat High Point, second round opponent will be Denver/Loyola winner. I was originally concerned that Loyola would forfeit giving Denver a free ride to second round, but with a week between first and second rounds am much less concerned. Still surprise that LoDukeyola got the bid. Army probably lost a bid during Patriot tournament. Still think the committee took a risk with Loyola.
Glad to see Maryland as a 3, lined up to play Notre Dame at Notre Dame in second round. Maryland is an unknown quantity having played no non-conference games this year. So they will have to run a gauntlet of Notre Dame (probable), Duke/Denver, and then likely cheats/Virginia. So if they win they will have earned it.
Wow—definitely thought we were locked in to the No. 3 slot. Maryland was undefeated and won their conference tournament. Says a lot about how favorably the committee judged the strength of the ACC against other conferences.
Game is 5 pm next Sunday in Chapel Hill. Looks like UNC plays in Chapel Hill on Saturday so it isn't a doubleheader, which is good. The game is at Dorrance Field (formerly known as Fetzer). If we advance, we are in South Bend the following weekend vs. Denver/Loyola. Loyola got in despite covid this weekend. Army was the last team out. Twerps weak SOS dropped them to a 3.
Women are the 7th seed vs. Mount St. Mary's.
I personally couldn't justify putting MD between Duke and UNC. #3 for MD is fair when the other two were top 2 in the RPI and split the regular season. I would much rather face MD in the Final 4 than UVA, but I feel pretty good predicting ND to advance in that 3-6 pod when the critical game is played in ND's Stadium.
All of the UNC graduation crowd should be gone before the game. We should have a neutral site even if the stadium is painted in syrup of ipecac.
Denver would be an interesting rematch.

I’m frankly shocked that Rutgers and Loyola got in over Army and Villanova.
Rutgers didn’t beat anybody good, and lost to the worst Hop team in living memory in the B1G semis. The only conclusion one can draw is that the unwritten rule is that B1G always gets two bids. Villanova’s win over Lehigh should have been enough to tip the scales in its favor.
Army has arguably the best non-conference win of all. Discounted due to recency bias? Loyola was aggressively mediocre until last week, and there is no assurance they will show up. Inexplicable.
Duke was treated fairly. Georgetown was not. Denver as the seven seed is hard to fathom.
Except for the disturbance near the end, the play was fine, said Mrs. Lincoln.
