FSU leading Louisville 59-49 w/ 10 min. to go.
Roughly a quarter of the way through the season, there are still 7 teams with one or fewer losses in conference play (although Virginia stands alone undefeated at the top). At the other end, four teams have won one or fewer games, and then there are four in the middle with more, well, middle-of-the-road results so far. Included below is the first edition of the conference-only efficiency margins, with a few notes on performance thus far: Pitt, believe it or not, has the #1 defense in conference-only play; Virginia (aided substantially by Saturday's outburst) has the #1 offense. Wake is 15th in offense (26 points per 100 possessions behind Virginia) and 11th in defense - not a strong combination. Virginia and Louisville are the only teams in the top 5 on both sides of the ball, with Virginia Tech close (6 offense, 4 defense).

Pretty amazing how hard Clemson has fallen. They lost their past two games (UVA, @GT) by a combined 53 points after climbing as high as #12 in the rankings. They are likely to be unranked next week, leaving the ACC with just two ranked teams.
I am not following the Clemson demise closely but I just noticed the following from ESPN College Basketball Writer/Quant John Gasaway
@JohnGasaway
Fairly certain Clemson's defense has either allowed or endured the most accurate two-game stretch of opponent shooting in major-conference competition this century.
After the midweek games, today's contests are really big.
- Duke (3-2) and Louisville (4-2) -- each trying to stay in the top tier and within striking distance of the conference leaders. A third loss this early would be tough.
- NC State (2-3) and UNC (4-3) -- a game that could send State toward the bottom of the league or could make it very tough for Carolina to be more than a middle-of-the-pack team.
- VT (5-1) and Syracuse (2-3) -- it is too early for any game to be a "must-win" but it sure feels like Syracuse needs this one
- Clemson (3-3) versus FSU (4-1) -- remember when everyone thought Clemson was the class of the ACC... a whole week ago? They are now looking squarely at being under .500 in the league.
- Ga Tech (3-1) and Virginia (5-0) -- Virginia is threatening to run away with the league, but this veteran Tech team suddenly looks like it might be as good as some expected (me!!)
-Jason "and I expect Pitt (4-1) to beat Wake (0-6) fairly easily... which probably means Wake in a laugher" Evans

Syracuse is beating VPI by 19 late in the game. WOW.

State at Carolina is an entertaining game so far. Heels up 22-20 with 9:43 left in 1st half. Armando Bacot with 10 points already.
Bob Green
Carolina looks like they have figured out some of their early season struggles, unfortunately. Bacot having a great game.
Halftime: Carolina 43, State 33.
Bacot and Sharpe lead Carolina with 12 points. Heels dominating inside.

The heels know who they are/have an identity. They play to it and are getting better each game.

FSU blowing out Clemson.

Don't give us too TOO much credit. We were asleep at the wheel for the first 25 min of this game. GT did WHATEVER they wanted on O. They were on pace to cruise past 80 before our D woke up. Thankfully, with Hauser and Huff we have the offense to hang around when the D isn't there.
On some nights, we look as good as anybody not named Gonzaga or Baylor. Other nights, we can lose to San Francisco, lol. Hopefully by the end of the year Bennett has them playing closer to the former than the latter.
