    Good.

Hope we find a quality replacement.

Ha, this is logical...no wonder he has been happy to leave the football program alone, let his successor deal with it. He also (presumably/hopefully) avoids having to find a successor to K...good timing, Kevin!

I think Kevin White has done an excellent job, with the one exception of extending Coach P's contract a few years ago.

And before anyone suggests it (devildeac, I'm looking at you), no, I will not be applying for the job this time around. I don't want to work that hard!
    Ozzie, your paradigm of optimism!

He's done some good things in some sports, but the prospect of him handing out big contracts in Football/Basketball always made me really nervous after he gave one of the worst coaching contracts in NCAA history to Charlie Weiss while at ND (obviously Paul Hewitt was the worst).

It seems his Duke tenure has been a somewhat mixed bag — some good things, some not so good.

I will say that I feel better about White’s tenure than I did about that of Joe Alleva.

White was more of a facilities guy whereas Butters was a hiring guy (Spurrier, K, G). While White did an excellent job with Pollard, Duke needs a hiring guy or gal. (I'm thinking Nina gets promoted, and I have no data to say good or bad there.)

If, by "facilities" guy, you mean he raised a lot of money, that's what we still need. We can't get top-notch coaches without being able to play for them. As to K's successor, I will offer my advice when it's needed.

Would K consider giving up coaching to take the VP of Athletics job ?

I'm not sure why he would want to.

We've already started a "Draft Ozzie!" petition. You can't deny the people.

I can think of ten million reasons why he won't.

Also, K is the most well-known basketball coach in the entire world, due to his success at Duke and with Team USA. The basketball world hangs on his every statement. He is a "lifer" in hoops.
