Zion with 21 (so far) in the first half, and he hasn't missed a shot - 9 for 9. I think they're all in the paint, too.

Make that 23 on 10-10 shooting. The only place he's missed so far is from the FT line.

I think 10 for 10 is referred to as a Laettner. Hard to guard a 7’3” who hit 7 threes in a half in Porzingas.

JJ 8 for his last 10 threes.

Okay, so per Mtn. Devil’s request, here is a rough list of the Duke guys in the NBA. Spoiler alert: there could legitimately be 30(!) guys who spend time on an NBA roster this year. Crazy. Here is how the 29 guys who have been on a roster this year have done:

    The best of the best:
    Kyrie Irving (24.6 PER, 0.197 WS/48)
    Zion Williamson (25.1 PER, 0.191 WS/48)

    Next tier:
    Jayson Tatum: (20.7 PER, 0.163 WS/48)
    Brandon Ingram (20.4 PER, 0.139 WS/48)

    Promising young guys:
    Wendell Carter (16.8 PER, 0.121 WS/48)
    Tyus Jones (16.2 PER, 0.120 WS/48)
    Gary Trent (13.1 PER, 0.064 WS/48)
    Grayson Allen (12.9 PER, 0.100 WS/48)
    Marvin Bagley (13.4 PER, 0.018 WS/48)
    RJ Barrett (13.0 PER, 0.052 WS/48)

    Old guy starters:
    Seth Curry (14.8 PER, 0.144 WS/48)
    Mason Plumlee (17.0 PER, 0.133 WS/48)

    Starting, but playing poorly:
    Cam Reddish (8.5 PER, 0.021 WS/48)

    Rotation players:
    Jahlil Okafor (15.6 PER, 0.096 WS/48)
    Harry Giles (10.9 PER, 0.051 WS/48)
    Luke Kennard (10.9 PER, 0.082 WS/48)
    Semi Ojeleye (9.7 PER, 0.083 WS/48)
    JJ Redick (8.9 PER, 0.037 WS/48)
    Austin Rivers (10.0 PER, 0.059 WS/48)
    Rodney Hood (5.5 PER, -0.039 WS/48)

Fringe roster guys (too few minutes to say anything meaningful):
    Marques Bolden
    Quinn Cook
    Vernon Carey
    Frank Jackson
    Tre Jones
    Cassius Stanley

    On roster but haven’t played:
    Justise Winslow
    Jabari Parker

    Got a 10-day contract but didn’t play:
    Amile Jefferson

Statistical oddity from NO-DAL game: JJ Redick led the Pels in blocks. Since the total was 2, that may say more about New Orleans than JJ.

That said, I think there is a lot wrong with this number because James Harden's defensive ratings from his rookie year to last year have been between 103 to 108 and there isn't anyone on this green Earth who believes Harden is a good defender.

Also, Gary has been developed in a solid franchise with a top 10 player. The Bulls are perpetually in no man's land and the Kings are dysfunctional at best.

Side note: this development is why I'm hoping Jalen Johnson gets drafted in the late lottery or mid first round; he needs solid development and the only bad teams currently in the lottery that can provide that are Houston, New Orleans, San Antonio, and OKC. If he's a top 6 draftee, his teams are likely to be Detroit, Washington, Minnesota, Houston, New Orleans, and New York. Side side note: given the way the Pelicans are recently playing, they aren't likely to be a high lottery pick.
I suspect you won’t have to worry about him going top 6.

Zion finished with 36 points on 14-15 shooting... his only miss was a 3-pointer.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

As for 2018, it is still a close race. Trent has spurts where he looks fabulous, but I don't think he has quite eclipsed Bagley yet. And Wendell is another guy who has a terrible injury bug. I suspect both big from the 2018 class would do well with a change of scenery.
Winslow has been hurt and hasn’t played in a long time. Allen is better than Jones ad he plays more now for the same team
Remember Allen has been in the league three les years

Wow, when you see all the Duke guys laid out like that, it's really impressive in number and quality.

Allen only plays more because the Grizz happen to have another superstar PG, but Jones has played better than Allen (and their minutes per game aren’t that different.

That he has been in the league three fewer years doesn’t change the fact that he isn’t as good yet as the other two. Maybe he eventually catches them, but he isn’t there yet.

Terrible game by the Pelicans last night. SVG really has to fix the perimeter defense. Too much collapsing inward leads to wide open threes. In fairness it was slightly- slightly - a bit of an anomaly because Adams had trouble guarding Porzingis, who is a rare talent for his position. But the game plan was broken either way. Zion was absolutely feasting at a historically efficient rate. So naturally anyone and everyone not named zion starts chucking bricks left and right.

Did anyone see Tre Jones's dunk last night?

Nice! he had a stellar game today too. The Spurs have to like what they're seeing.

Wow, did Tre somehow improve his vertical leaping ability? I remember him front-rimming a couple of fairly easy dunks (“easy” for most D-1 basketball players) while at Duke.

Anyway, it’s gratifying to see him make an athletic play like that in an NBA game. I really hope he becomes a starting PG one day. He’s a good guy.

MP2 with a triple double tonight in what will be a tough loss for Duke South.

Bledsoe 1-8 from the field, all on threes, and 2 assists, and he’s no younger than Jrue Holiday.

Pelicans blow every lead it seems like. Every loss they have a big lead at some point .

I haven't watched much NBA... but this seems too familiar. Maybe we should refrain from calling them "Duke South".

While we are at this maybe Portland should called Duke West. Trent is doing amazing at the moment and Rodney and Harry are chipping in quite nicely. It’s great to watch.

Did we take full advantage of Gary when he was at Duke? It looks like he will be a big earner in the NBA.
