- Honeyland (North Macedonia)
- My Happy Family (Georgia)
- Men in the Arena (Somalia)
- The Battle of Algiers (Algeria)
- Eternity (Peru)
- The Motorcycle Diaries (Argentina, Chile, Peru)
- Dark Waters (Egypt)
- The Wedding Party (Nigeria)
These were all interesting, though Eternity (90 minutes in a stone hut in the Andes without subtitles) might not be to everyone's taste
.
One of my favorite movies is Baraka. It's hard to describe exactly what it is; it is an anthology of amazing imagery highlighting scenery and cultures from all over the globe. There is no dialogue, no plot. It's like watching a National Geographic pictorial in motion.
Here's the trailer
(Recommend you turn sound on)
and you can actually stream the whole thing here.
