I'm think I'm on the same page as you, if you can sign a contract that pretty much guarantees financial security for you and your family, how does that factor in to the equation? While we may hope for ARod numbers in stats and salary, the reality is most wont't achieve them. And if you can get to the majors early enough you can time the next contract with your peak stat years in your later 20s. My critique of Albies contract would be in the club option years, those I think could have been negotiated more aggressively.

Being the agent for what many consider the most undervalued contract (by market rates) in history doesn’t sound like fulfilling fiduciary duty to me.

Saying this again and again doesn't change the fact that Acuna and Albies agreed to the contracts and that they are the only judges that matter of the value their agents provided.

How do we know that Albies didn’t approach his agent and ask him to present this contract to the Braves?

Albies two $7 mil options are really strange. I mean, if he is any good, the team is laughing as it takes those and if he is bad he gets nothing.

Still, it is worth noting that when Albies contract is done, he will still be in his 20s and would seem to be likely to sign a $100+ mil deal with the Braves or someone else for the next 5-7 years.

Both guys have ensured that no one in their family and none of their grandchildren will ever need to work... that's a pretty nice place to be no matter what.
Why are you wasting time here when you could be wasting it by listening to the latest episode of the DBR Podcast?

We don't know, but even if he did, his agent should have advised him to negotiate for a better deal. Of course, the agent may have done so, and Albies may have disregarded the advice, but I think it's unlikely.

Some folks think the agents (both small agents) for Albies and Acuna were worried that they would lose their clients at some point, to a bigger agent like Boras, and therefore were in a hurry to get Albies and Acuna to sign their deals, so the agents could get paid. Does point out how the interests of the agent and his principal can diverge, creating a conflict of interest.

Yes, it is. Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for the first funny Chris Paul State Farm commercial.

They are putting out some good commercials tonight. That ad for the new GMC Hummer EV all-electric truck was really impressive. Amazing vehicle, captivating imagery, and a cool song (a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song”). It made me want to get one!

It’s almost like this is the Super Bowl or something.

There won’t be one until Julius Hodge makes a cameo.

    Well

It would be pretty ballsy of Hodge to join up with Paul.

Yeah, feel like you sorta got sacked.

Putting young pitchers May and Gonsolin in unfamiliar roles that can change on a moment’s notice in the postseason hasn’t worked.
