Northwestern looking good in the BIG10 Championship Game. Wildcats are up 10-3 on Ohio State early in 2nd quarter.
I noticed today for the first time that the Colorado coach (they're in second place in the PAC 12 South) is one Karl Dorrell, who happened to be Joe Alleva's initial choice for Duke football coach the year we hired Cut.
It's his first college head coaching job since he was canned by UCLA in 2007...(he's had a number of good assistant coach jobs in the NFL since then)

That probably could have been called a catch and fumble.
Halftime: Northwestern 10, Ohio State 6
Northwestern intercepts in the end zone to deny Ohio State then takes a knee to end the half.

I’d love to see NW maintain this but it feels like everything went perfectly for its defense and OSU will be able to exert its will in the second half.
Feels like they got a little too cute there.
Ohio State takes the lead 13-10. Buckeyes did not throw a single pass on that TD drive. Northwestern needs to respond.

Final: Ohio State 22, Northwestern 10
Buckeyes offensive line dominated in 2nd half.

Hard to imagine that we pretty much manhandled NW just two years ago; I know the score was only 21-7, but Jones got hurt in the first half, didn't play in the second when we had zero offense, yet our defense just ate them up the entire (scoreless) second half. And that despite Gilbert going out with that ugly dislocated hip injury...
I wasn't really rooting against Northwestern, but it's still nice to know that one of the CFP semifinal games won't be Bama(or Clemson) 42, NW 3.
That has been true lately. Clemson just has not been as dominant this year and no one has even come close to Bama in a better conference. Clemson is healthier now and might be peaking at the right time (now watch ND win and make all of this moot...)
Edit: I may have short changed Clemson’s season. Other than BC and the loss without Lawrence I guess it has been dominant.
Brittain Brown has a career-best 212 yard game tonight, putting UCLA in position to clinch a comeback win over Stanford. However, with a 7-point lead and the ball and 1:30 left in the game, a botched handoff leads to a fumble and Stanford scores to send the game into overtime. I'm not staying up to slog through however many overtimes they'll have.
That SEC Championship game was great fun!
