    Degenerate gamblers for the PGA

With the PGA being played this week, will we have the usual degenerate gamblers competition?

Yes, I hope so. Rules please. Something about the OWGR and 30 points, I believe. Who traditionally runs this event for DBR?

30 total points, no more than 10 players per team, each player’s point total equals their current OWGR points rounded down (so 6.6 OWGR points counts as 6). Minimum value is 2 points (so 0.7 OWGR points counts as 2). Winner is based on total earnings of the team.

Don't forget to pick a winning score relative to par as a tie breaker. To repeat what CDu has already outlined:

    1. You have thirty OWGR "points" to spend on picking a team.
    2. You can pick any player in the field - it's not a draft, so in theory you could have the exact same team as someone else.
    3. You can pick up to 10 players, not more.
    4. Each player's "cost" is their OWGR points total rounded down. So, Dustin Johnson "costs" 6; Justin Thomas - 9; Patrick Cantlay - 5; etc.
    5. Anyone whose OWGR points is less than 2, costs 2. In other words, no player in the field costs less than 2.
    6. Your final score is based on a total of the money won by all the players on your team. If one of your players misses the cut, you get 0 for that player.
    7. As a tiebreaker, you also pick the winning score relative to par (e.g., -12).

11:59 pm ET Wednesday deadline for submitting picks.

    Mr. Synellinden's picks:

    Koepka - 6
    DeChambeau - 6
    Cantlay - 5
    Berger - 4
    Matsuyama - 3
    Spieth - 2
    Day - 2
    Horschel - 2

    Winning Score (-14)

I originally wanted to go JT-Web-Brooks, but others beat me too it so I need to differentiate and swap in the professor for Web. I would LOVE to see Bryson-Brooks final pairing on Sunday.

    JT - 9
    Bryson - 6
    Brooks - 6
    Tiger - 4
    Daniel Berger - 4

    Winning score -9

My original list contained one fewer golfer and only 29 points. I shifted a bit to make 30, but I'm debating some buyer's remorse as I wonder if the 29 will be worth more than the 30.

Yup, I went with a bunch of no names (or at least lesser names) who have been hot lately. Not sure if this strategy will work but might as well find out.

    John Rahm – 8
    Brooks Koepka – 6
    Colin Morikawa – 5
    Tyrrell Hatton - 4
    Daniel Berger – 4
    Abraham Ancer - 3

My problem is that I wanted JT at nine points, but there was no one at seven, five, or three points that I wanted on my team, so I couldn't get back to an even number. Adam Long is at 1+, but the rules dictate he be counted as two points.

I refuse to have anyone on my team that I truly don't like.

To estimate the winning score, I looked up the previous tournaments played at Harding Park in SF. There was a President's Cup, which was no help, so I had to back to the WGC in 2005 where Tiger beat John Daly (both at -10) on the second hole of a playoff when Daly missed a two-foot putt. Can't believe that was 15 years ago!
